"The tough job market is prompting a growing number of women across the country to dance in strip clubs, appear in adult movies or pose for magazines like Hustler.

Employers across the adult entertainment industry say they’re seeing an influx of applications from women who, like Brown, are attracted by the promise of flexible schedules and fast cash. Many have college degrees and held white-collar jobs until the economy soured.

“You’re seeing a lot more beautiful women who are eligible to do so many other things,” said Gus Poulos, general manager of New York City’s Sin City gentleman’s club. He said he got 85 responses in just one day to a recent job posting on Craigslist.

The transition to the nightclub scene isn’t always a smooth one — from learning to dance in five-inch heels to dealing with the jeers of some customers."

    • I'm really not surprised. Necessity drives us and it's certainly a quick and relatively easy way to make a few quid.

When tuition fees rose to £3,000 a year in 2006, a similar thing happened. There was a 50% increase in students turning to prostitution and escort angencies to pay for their school fees.

Sadly, it could be the same people, or the same generation of people, who turned to the adult industry to get money to get a degree to get a job to get fired to get into the adult industry.

    • I'm guessing the influx of applicants is 50%due to the unfortunate demise of the weaker strip-clubs. So, the girls applying were already doin' most of it anyway. If I'm wrong, well, it sure is great to be an American.

      To each his/her own.

    • I've done it. It's alright. Maybe I've been disillusioned. Maybe I shouldn't have done it in the state of Michigan. Who knows?

    • Huh?

As someone who has spent over 10 years in the adult content industry on the net, I only have one thought on the matter. It ain't all it's cracked up to be. (Pun included)

    • I know this is gonna sound a bit messed up but hey its the truth... so yeah.. most guys do like porn and titty clubs, truth is i have never been to a titty club since i could never afford to through money out at a girl no matter how hot she is or what shes willing to do... but there in lies the evil part... when i do watch porn its honestly not to see hot girls, cause most of em are not hot just fake tits and fake lips and fake hair just all around "fake" so what do i watch it for then? To see what disgusting legths people will go to just to make a buck and honestly i can tell you there is sooooo much nasty stuff out there that people have done on porn that in my opinion no way in hell they could have got payed enough to do... so why am i ranting? Because just like one of the previous posters said that i agree with... when times get tough whatever you can do people will do to get by, whether its giving there boss a BJ for extra hours or stripping or getting bent over live on camera for the world to watch. Its how american woman are raised to think.. when all else fails take off your clothes and shake your money maker. Its sad really i find this attitude in alot of women and its a real turn off. What ever happened to the "mom" types now there just about all the "conventional livestock" Tatoos on the back above there butts, tits hanging out so much you dont need to imagine what they look like with there clothes off and buttcracks showing, not to mention the dying there hair blonde and wanting to look like the girl on the magazine types... its sad a sad look at whats become of what i consider to be the most beutifull thing in the world. A woman. So many things play into this, and by no means am i trying to put woman down, honestly if i could strip or shake my snake around for women and they would throw money at me.. yeah thats right i admit it id would probably be doing it right now. But my point here is in hard times all lower there standards of life and there expecations... try not to be fooled lovely creatures the porn industry will only give you fast money with unlimited regrets... as far as shaking your stuff at a club its not really decent to do but its better than being a porn girl. enough said women stay beutifull on the inside and out... your smarter than you think and you dont always have to take your clothes off to get bye. either way i love you ladies stay beutifull you all are one way or another no matter what you do for a living.

    • this is kind of sad...I think that the money earned from showing off your body is not worth it...beauty is free...beauty is everywhere...how can you put a price on a woman's gorgeous body? men are really sad.. i guess stripping is realizing the harsh reality of life...how successful you are all comes down to how sexy you are willing to act?

      well, y'all keep doing it.
so I guess it can't upset you that much, eh??

If it's not stripping or doing porn, it's using your sexuality to gets stuff from people, or to move up the corporate ladder.

we might be dumb, but you're evil.

I have a friend who strips. She makes my monthly pay check in two nights. I'm not saying it justifies anything but sometimes the allure of easy money is to much to pass up.

    • i used to have a friend (mom) that was a stripper and God knows what else. the night hours and emotional bagage really effected her daughters and commitment to relationships.

i personally think its a shame that a family mom might have to show her bod cuz her and her husband cant find any other job... would make a great movie though.

Put down your pitchfork for a minute and do some research on a topic before you blindly start following the chants of those placed in the crowd to distract attention from the real monsters.

    • Still kinda sad. But what happens when people don't have money to go to topless bars. Maybe then topless bars won't be so looked down upon by those who used to be white coller workers. Everyone is just trying to make a living. That's all.

    • absolutely . in an ideal world this kind of paradigm shift would , from here-on-out , be the primary catalyst for further human evolution . when you have all the female breeding stock looking like strippers there's no question things can be said to have improved .

    • I'm outraged!

It's high time such venues as Hooters and strip clubs were regulated by the federal government to ensure men have equal opportunities to employment.

I have never gotten one single call back from the dozens of applications I've submitted.

      What do we want?
Equal rights for middle-aged fat guys!
When do we want it? NOW!
