This is so crazy. I remember shootings happening 10 years ago were extremely rare, and now it feels like they happen every other week.

I am sick of the gun control comments. Newsflash: in reality, in the US you are more likely to kill yourself, than others with guns. Despite what the media tells you, statistically, these incidents rarely happen.
What we need to do, is put more money, and effort forth towards counciling, public awareness and higher use of antidepressants and therapy.

Coward! I wish he had lived, he deserved to be punished for what he did.

that poor woman... i hope she knows that this isn't her fault... as a mother and a wife she's probably struggling with that right now... =[

Yeah, unimatrix: There are many areas where, I believe, you are not going to control nor accomplish the desired effect with a law. A law may make you feel better but may have the opposite results, amplifying the problems.
If you want to change behavior, you need to get out there and change people's minds.
If you don't change people's minds, you can't hope to change what they do.
If you want less drunk driving, you gotta get out there and talk about why driving drunk is bad.
Now, here's the link one our current members placed about the drugs that may cause most of this:
http://ssristories.com/index.phpIf these drugs, that have been systematically pushed on society, are a causality, that is an area where you might turn your attention.

what better way to do this than by making a law? drunk driving is illegal, and though i agree cultural progress still needs to be made to dissuade these actions, making a clear punishment applicable definitely helps.
you have to legitimacy, enforcement, behind any cultural change. - 4 years ago

responsibility falls on a society who fails to address the problem of both gun control and pharmaceutical giants who control the population with drugs. that is the problem, whether you want to acknowledge it or not.

Ya... because the only way to kill children is w/ a gun?
Let responsibility fall where it belongs: on the killer.

I honestly believe this has little to do with gun control. I still dont see how someone could wake up and be like "yeah my life sucks so im going to kill my kids and myself, that will shake things up a bit".
This is one crazy world. Best solution is not to care, because whether or not you do or dont terrible things like this will happen. Better to shun it off then soak it up.

If he did not have access to a gun this may not have happened.
Just another reason for sane and sensible gun policy.

last year in Iowa a father killed his 2 kids in their garage by running the car with the doors closed. Using the same twisted line of think you are implying we should outlaw what? Cars? garages? garage doors? gasoline engines?
When that goofy women in Texas drowned her 5 kids in a bath tub should we outlaw bath tubs? water?
When susan smith killed her kids by putting them in the car and let it roll into the lake, should we outlaw cars? lakes?
when gacy killed 30 plus young men and boys in Chicago he strangled most of the should we outlaw rope?
Jack the ripper killed women with knives, should we outlaw knives?Pretty stupid ideas, ain't they?
People will always find ways to kill. maybe that should be outlawed, oh wait it already is.

You can turn most tools into lethal weapons but that's not what they are made for, guns, on the other hand, are.
I live in Europe and shootings do occur, but the frequency is much lower compared to the US. And somehow, I don't think I will feel much safer if I and the rest of the population start to carry guns to defend ourselves.
How can gunmen go on shooting-spree if they can't acquire guns in the first place? substitute it with garage doors?
I've said it before and I'll say it again, but as long as Americans fail to see the connection between mass shootings and the right of citizens to carry gun (DUH!), you'll continue to hear news like these.
I like America but its gun culture stinks and people seem to be either blind or simply ignorant about the issue... If you accept and defend the right of people to carry guns, then you're a part of the problem.

do you have any idea what a car do to a crowd of people standing in a large group? If I wanted to kill many people and didn't have a gun I could easily take my car and run it into a huge crowd of people and run down hundreds.
How many people do suicide bombers kill without guns? wake the fuck up. If I want people dead, I can do it. gun or no gun.

oh, if someone wants to kill someone else, they will find a way. Stabbing, hanging, beatings, etc. Yeah, maybe we should ban ropes, maybe that one pro wrestler (Chris Benoit?) wouldn't have killed his wife and kid, and himself...

Why bring the children into this nutty world if your just going to kill them. Not even a chance, so many people are falling through the cracks of our fastley falling apart social system. I think our society and financial systems are coming to a demise right before our eyes.

I'm so sick of hearing of all these killings; and mostly I'm sick of hearing about children being killed.
One gal on current said that most of these killers are or have been on Prozac or similar drugs. - Evoking the notion that the pharmaceutical companies might be suppressing such info.
What weakling would kill children?

yea, i read her comment too! people blame their messed up selves on everything from drugs to their pasts...
yea, sometimes that can me a person more tempted to do something such things but... that person is completely responsible for his or her own actions and should be held accountable as so.
