Steven Kazmierczak, Northern Illinois University shootings, had been taking Psychotropic Drugs.
Scientific studies proving that Prozac encourages psychopathic behavior and suicidal tendencies in young people are voluminous. Red Lake High School killer was on Prozac. The Uni bomber, Michael McDermott, John Hinckley, Jr., Byran Uyesugi, Mark David Chapman and Charles Carl Roberts IV, the Amish school killer, were all on SSRI Psychotropic Drugs.
Our media does not report that killer,Steven Kazmierczak, Northern Illinois University shootings, had been taking Psychotropic Drugs. Columbine shooters Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, as well as 15-year-old Kip Kinkel, the Oregon killer who gunned down his parents and classmates, and Cho Seung Hui, the Virginia Tech killer, were all on Psychotropic Drugs.
Senseless shootings are an ever-repeating story in America. Everyone seems befuddled each time like it will never happen again and it must have been a failed school system, a bad parent, video games or perhaps an odd song. While these may be contributing factors, we should be open to investigating all possible causes. Our US "News" media never whispers any hint of possibility of side effects of these legal pharmaceutical drugs being a possible part of the cause.
Imagine a cocktail of these drugs in American "troubled teens" and prisoners. This is common in our vastly over-medicated American society. The problem is often combined with other seemingly harmless drugs that often have serious confusion and violence producing side effects. Many people take five or more medications at the same time. This is considered a good thing in the US where more is always better. http://ssristories.com/index.php
Add this to a population who are missing critical components of their diets. UK Prisons are cutting violent behaviour by a third by simply correcting that deficiency. These are in placebo controlled double blind studies conducted right now with Oxford College. http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2006/oct/17/prisonsandprobation.ukcrime

I think most of us experience deep depression some time in your life..I did for 2 years after a family death.
You need to keep doing many things..exercise is key eating well..reading books, therapy..I took a valium or two..tiny piece of it a few times.under my Integrative doctors evaluation.
He is a MD and takes 2 years of alternative PIM training..so he told me about breathing correctly, acupuncture, supplements to help me keep my stress symptoms more at bay...
Integration is the way to go and has 20% of our facilities are taking it up!! yay. - 2 years ago

Unfortunately, all too often psychotropics are prescribed by MDs that aren't really qualified in psychiatric diagnoses, or don't do competent follow-up.

Some unbiased info on Prozac. It's true that Prozac can increase psychosis, and depression, BUT ONLY if prescribed to the wrong people and without professional supervision.
Depression is a real issue, that can't be solved just with meds or just lifestyle changes. In addition , if someone is being treated for depression, but actually has bi-polar disorder, an Anti-depressant will only worsen the situation without a mood-stabilizer to accompany it. This is common knowledge among professional, experienced psychiatrists.
It is a fact that drugs, in general, can be damaging, but without putting those facts into correct contex,t they're useless, misleading and can be used for agendas like "all drugs are bad".
Some good alternatives to Prozac are Lamictal and Trileptal

Maybe for you, but not for me.
"Yes it is real and I too have experienced severe depression off and on over the years. "
Well, I'm suffering from Bi-polar which is a little different.
"Oh yea and smoking cannabis helped me feel much better."
Which makes sense because it can function as a mood stabilizer, but I get horrible migraines from pot.

Have you taken the time to listen to Wayne Dyer? The fact is that depression STARTS with your thoughts and inner belief system, and not from chemical imbalances. The pot your getting must not be good pot if its giving you migranes. Find a better source of pot.

I don't have depression, I have Bi-Polar disorder, and you might call that a fact, but It isn't. I'll trust in years of medical science.
And my inner belief system has nothing to do with this. I'm a realistic humanist, with some influences of Taoism and Buddhism. That hasn't changed one bit.
You have your own way of dealing with depression. So lets agree to disagree and end it at that.
