Pilot of Stolen Cessna Wanted U.S. Fighter Jets to Shot him Down.

The Canadian man wholed fighter jets on a chase across six states yesterday flew his stolen plane into the U.S. in hopes the military would shoot him down and kill him, according to a Missouri state trooper who apprehended the rogue pilot.

Missouri State Trooper Justin Watson told "Good Morning America" that 31-year-old Yavuz Berke, formerly known as Adam Leon, wanted to commit suicide, but didn't have the courage to do it himself.

"His idea was to fly the aircraft into the United States where he would be shot down," Watson said. "He stated several times that at any time he thought he was going to be shot down."

And he came close several times, Watson said.

    • I think it's hilarious how scared people got over this story before he landed. IT'S A FUCKING CESSNA. Driving that into a building would do as much damage as driving a car into a building, not 9/11 all over again.

    • One report said he has "Psychological issues" but I have not heard anything today. Boy you have to pretty sick if you steal a place and have Jets chasing you and still flying.

    • Last night on evening news around 11 they actually thought at first that this was a possible terrorist attack .. ack! I think everybody was on edge. What a lune! What was the purpose of this?

    • Yes, that's what most people thought when they said he was flying into the US with the Jets following him. What a way to commit suicide! But then he landed and it ended ok. I wonder why he did that?

    • That story was really scary for a while when it first broke. Many thought this was "911" all over again. Somebody steals a plane and flies into the US chased by Fighter Jets. Glad it ended with everybody safe.
