Failed drug policies need correction

If one reads the objections to undoing prohibition, it becomes plain that they only have strawmen in their army: The truth is that prohibition is far more dangerous and deadly than any drug: As Abraham Lincoln said, “Prohibition will work great injury to the cause of temperance. It is a species of intemperance within itself, for it goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man’s appetite by legislation, and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded.”

And remember, Lincoln was a man fond of relaxing in his rocking chair and enjoying “...a pipe of Indian hemp” which smoke he and other founders knew was not a cause for the interference of government. If only we had politicians with that courage and sense today.

    • Well Jack, you did it again. I learn something new from your posts every day. Thank you for your efforts. I love hearing Abraham Lincoln and others opinions about cannabis.

These comments are from a time in history, when honesty was a virtue. If honesty every becomes a virtue again, things will change. People would stop spinning disinformation if accountability and shame were associated with dishonesty.

People have become to accepting of lies, they just move along. Respect for honesty has all but disappeared. Honesty and dishonesty are spun as equal. In a just society, truth would win over spin.
