Hey, I can't complain, I actually get an extra $10.65 back a week. That will almost cover how much my property taxes have gone up. But how can he say he lowered taxes for 95% of Americans when 40% don't pay taxes? What's less than zero? Bailout!

You don't think I care about facts? Why, because I don't agree with Obama? I care only about facts and that is why I disagree with Obama. We are in a economic depression because we got ourselves too deeply into debt. So let's get farther into dept to solve the problem? That is buck wild crazy! The facts I care about are my bank account and my wallet, and they aren't looking any better no matter how many platitudes I hear from Mr. Obama.

No, I don't think you care about facts because you seem to consistently misstate them.

again you stray away from the content of my response.

      Here it is again

"The original quote was 95% of tax paying Americans. Though john, I don't think you really care about the facts anyways."

It was in response to your misstatement of the quote.

So, how about correcting your incorrect quote, or simply agreeing that you don't really care about the facts.

Notice the absence of 1) Obama, 2) the economy, 3) tax policy, 4) life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, 5) etc. in my response.

Now, judging from above you seem to have trouble staying focused.

can you stay focused enough to either a) correct your misstatement of the quote or b) acknowledge that facts are of little meaning to you?

95% decrease in taxes? I don't feel it. And, he's hiding taxes for the poor/middle income with the huge jump in cigarette, alcohol and coming soon.... sugar soda! I don't smoke, but talked with a guy in Colorado and a pack of cigs is $6.00 now! Tell me that doesn't hurt a regular guy.

    • For all the bitching and pissing about, not many here has given any actual facts defending their position.

Socialism. Marxist. Throwing words like that around without actually knowing their meaning and the connotation they carry is just plain stupid. First of all, why the hell are so many hell-bent on ridiculing President Obama and his administration as Socialist? Socialism has existed in our country for a very long time and helped establish us as a nation, so it is not necessarily a bad thing. Taxes? USPS? = Socialist systems.

Truth be told, I voted for Obama, but he was not my primary candidate. I am not a liberal nor am I conservative. I am not Republican and I am not a Democrat. I'm just a person who wants what is best not for me and my future, but for the future of those yet to come. Ron Paul was the man to deliver us from any kind of abusive government. Yeah, I said it.

Still, I shan't be like many here, who blindly criticize agendas on biased grounds. Obama is doing great things and doing some not so great things at the same time. That's how shit is. But talking about impeachment and calling him a socialist does nothing for anyone's argument if not defended with logical, concrete information. One cannot just rebut something without offering an alternative. The only smart way to defend your views on such a controversy is through counterargument, focusing not just on the flaws of the administration, but on providing better, alternative policies.

Threatening to impeach or to "get this socialist fuck out of office" are infantile without proper argumentation.

talk about not knowing facts - socialism and progressives were first introduced to the united states by woodrow wilson, rosevelt carried it on with his new deal, it is in this tradition that hillary clinton, pelosi, obama and many others call themselves progressives.
Woodrow wilson was the turning point where the country started moving away from the constitution and the forefathers intentions.
Socialism was originally tried here during the 13 colonies but was scrapped when most people were sitting around letting others carry the weight.
The forefathers realized it is not compatible with freedom. socialism has never worked, and it's not going to work now.

    • Sorry, but I think anyone who wants to peacefully protest in this country has that right. And in all honesty I am angry about the bailouts and the spending for the military as well. Our children's future is at stake. Now, I don't know how many of these people were just there to criticize Obama simply because he is a Democrat or for whatever other reason or how many were there because they really care about the future of this country, but it is good to see people coming out and speaking up regardless of party.

I think Washington, Adams, and Jefferson were right in the beginning to shun political factions and labels. Look at what they have done to this country... divide us instead of bring us together. I would think there would be people of all "parties" at these protests because they see beyond party and put country first. And while I again know that a number of those at these protests today were only playing politics as well, as Jefferson said, dissent is the highest form of patriotism. And that line was used many times by Democrats over the last eight years at protests.

We do need to reign in the the excessive amount of money we are putting into this military budget, and war, and the banks, and the companies we bailout with our children's money. And that is the case regardless of what party runs this country... into the ground. So on that score I can agree with this based on premise and I find it sad for either party to downplay the display of our first amendment right simply because they put party over country. That being said however, I do have one question for the Republicans at these protests today: Where have you been for the last eight years?

Good Comments, Jan. Peaceful dissension should never be discouraged in the U.S.A. There is an unhealty fixation on Bush or Obama as being the problem. The problem is big gov't. and the greed of politicians and their cronies. That is the real problem!

These imbeciles are willing to put up with 8 yrs of Bush but a month of so of Obama trying to undo Bush's fuckery is too much for them...

HaHaHa, I didn't even know there WAS such a thing as a stereotype angry liberal. What, liberals aren't allowed to be angry? And you are absolutely right ash, liberals ARE tolerant and understanding. You don't see them calling themselves "Compassionate Liberals" because that would be redundant.

But of course these very labels are utterly ridiculous. They are SUPPOSED to describe how open a person is to change and new ideas. Conservative -- go slow, don't fix what isn't broken, a bird in the hand, etc Liberal -- new ideas for new times, if it doesn't work, try something else, with big risks come big rewards, etc. Instead they have become shorthand expressions for "people we don't like."

When one of my state's Republican Senators ran for reelection last term, I was placed on his mailing list. I received at least one mailing from his campaing every single week for over nine months (one week I received one every day except, of course, Sunday). I started noticing a common theme, so I hole-punched them as they came in and put them in a three-ring binder. Every single piece demonized his opponent as a "liberal." Some pieces contained the world "liberal" at least once in every single paragraph.

More to the point, the text rarely went on to describe WHY the guy was a liberal or IN WHAT WAY he was a liberal. It was as though calling him a liberal was enough all by itself--like "liberal" was the equivalent of "baby killer" or "serial rapist." I was tempted to send the campaign a dictionary but decided voting for their opponent probably made the point just as well...

Ayahuasca2012, This may come as a surprise to you but not all the people at the Tea Parties were Conservatives. Most people don't buy into the "TAX CUT" that will last about 1 year before the ax falls. Maybe looking beyond today would help. Looking beyond today is why approximately 30 governors are refusing Stimulus money. That money would bankrupt States in the future. This is because it would require extensions of programs and the Federal dollars would have long been spent. Don't forget, the Federal money is not free. It didn't just appear out of the sky or come from trees in the backyard. It's our money. Most of us are tired of Congress spending more and more every year. Spending money we don't have. I'm surprised that you are not angry about this. Instead, you seem to want to turn this into a LEFT/RIGHT thing. You couldn't be more wrong. By the way, calling people retarded and morons does nothing to support your view, limited as it is.

    • Ayahuasca2012:

I really don't think I'm a liberal and I really don't think that the people who attended the Tea Baggings were all conservatives. But unfortunately the events were largely planned by conservative interests with purely political goals at heart. Making the events mainly a tool to use against Obama and his administration. It's not like the Republicans would have done anything differently anyway... if McCain had been elected he would be doing exactly the same thing except there would have been no Tea Parties...

While I agree that the fact that Obama has authorized such massive spending is frightening I don't feel that as of yet we are in the position to make judgments without seeing if there is any impact.

It took Bush 8 years to add roughly 20% of the amount we currently have to our national debt. Which in itself was a feat and while Obama may have added near as much in his first 90 days or so in office it is entirely possible (though not probable) that infusing that money will have made the difference and will keep our economy from failing/falling further.

It is terrible that ourselves and our children will be paying for this for years to come. I really would have preferred that the money was not spent to keep those companies afloat but at this point what can I do?

I feel that the trend Bush started by giving handouts to these companies was heinous and one of the most undemocratic and uncapitalistic acts I have ever witnessed. I wish Obama had not continued the trend and I feel that our country's economy could have turned around without bailing out the failing companies. The country existed before those companies were in business and will exist long after.

I think people are failing to realize that Obama, Bush, McCain, Pelosi, etc are all politicians and will do whatever they are told to do to appease their interests even if that means giving away money this country doesn't have and putting us into debt for 10,000 years.

Having a Tea Party, as quaint as cute as it is isn't going to change that fact. Protesting isn't going to change it and neither is impeaching Obama. If you impeach him the next person to replace him will do as they are told as well. Do we all fail to see that this country is not a democracy and that it hasn't been a democracy for a very, very long time and that we have all been tricked?

I think I have went way off track with what I intended to say... but agree with me or disagree with me I think the whole Tea Party idea was stupid and anyone who attended as well.

Huge fucking agree!!!! I couldn't have worded it better myself. This isn't an us vs them situation at all. This is a sad attempt of the bitter bigoted morons of America to display their distaste that Obama is in office. And to continue down the road of accusing an entire party of being tax crazy and socialistic. The fact that anyone even thinks that the two parties are separate and support either side is ridiculous and horribly transparent at this point.

I believe Obama is thinking about the future and it's pretty difficult to plan around the heaping pile of shit Bush and his admin left behind. And now NeoCons are using it against Obama when their party caused this mess.

Yes...I've been pretty disappointed with some recent decisions by Obama.. But it's been the conservative decisions that make me disappointed.

The more NeoCons squirm..the better off the world is.

And please...no one respond to this with their usual character assassination of rebpub versus liberal points of view.

We don't need much more proof that the entire government and capitalistic model have been in cahoots for decades and have had a socialistic model established for some time now.

It's ridiculous that any of us are even picking sides and arguing over this shit.

If our country is too chicken shit to over throw the government....then start creating more parties...

Because the two party system is not working.

    • This is unprecedented. Pelosi and company took over in 2006. The Republicans spent and spent and spent. The left complained until their man was in office. Now we have Tea Parties. This needs to progress and balloon until all the marxist bums who care nothing for our freedom or future are thrown out. This includes Obama, Pelosi, Reid and any other who stand with them REGARDLESS of political affiliation.
NBC et al and many politicians are viewing these protests with distain. Their arrogance will be the downfall of the left. We can't blame this on Bush. Congress is more complicit than the president. Besides how can anyone with a grain of sense use the argument that Bush and the Repubs spent wildly as justification for Obama and the Democrats doing the same thing? That is only political rhetoric and indicates the speaker cares only for which party is in power and cares nothing for this country.
Impeach Obama. Institute term limits. Cut taxes. Cut spending. Call your representatives tomorrow. Make sure they read and follow the Constitution.

Well, the parties were sponsored by Fox News, so it's not surprising to me that the other major news networks didn't cover it in a way that pleased you (Do you see Fox advertising for the Today Show Concert Series?)

And before you get uptight about the definition of "sponsorship," remember that Fox sent their "reporters" to various major cities to act as "hosts" for the parties, and called the parties "The FNC Tax Day Tea Parties," all day long, and repeatedly encouraged everyone viewing to go! I have never seen CNN instruct their viewers to leave their houses and go to a protest. Why? Because it's not a fair or balanced thing to do! News networks are supposed to report the news, not create it.

Paratus, tell me something. Where were you when Bush was borrowing and spending us into insolvency? Were you angry then? Was it ok because you didn't think he raised your taxes? Or is it because you still haven't figured out how he burned your kids future to give tax breaks to wealthy Americans?

When I hear conservatives such as yourself, complaining about taxes it reminds me of an arrogant teenager who after totaling the family car goes on a tirade against the mechanic who got stuck trying to fix it.

Still, I'm willing to support your desire not to pay taxes under the following conditions: you and your family have to give up the things federal tax dollars provide like military protection, infrastructure and education subsidies, environmental protection, social security benefits, medicare, medicaid, federal law enforcement, consumer protection, etc. Fair enough?

I have no objection to him trying to engage the Taliban in negotiations (especially with regard to the terms of their surrender), but to the best of MY knowledge he has only done so with Iran (which of course makes perfect sense -- one would have to be a total idiot to threaten a country like Iran with war without at least TRYING to negotiate a resolution to all or some of the issues on which we disagree.). I am glad you didn't vote for Bush, John (shows good sense on your part), but where did you see or hear this "fear" thing and this "Taliban" thing? Perhaps I just missed the news that day.

Obama talks straight, explains it like it is, and the Ripusoffican party spreads mis-information.

So, you missed out on all the fun of us Democrats standing up to a President and his minions and the feeling of sweet victory getting them out. So now you enviously want some of that too, but it ain't gonna come this way, with false claims and misunderstanding.

Now I hate that FED just like every other intelligent american...but those stats seem a bit off...the reason i'm saying this is because i find it rather difficult to believe that americans would accept almost half of their annual income taken by taxes...if i am mistaken..i apologize but those numbers just seem unreal!

You should go out and get put on tape.

Its America baby, you can get a camera for a few coins...like in 15 minutes Express yourself and don't let others who would like to make your ideas sound like the ideas of idiots by going to a gathering of people who share these ideas who are actual idiots and only talking to them and all you do is complain about showing only the idiots when someone with such super awesome problem solving skills like yourself only complains about them showing one of the many tards they cant find.

(you gotta read it like that, No pause.)
