Well, I'm certainly going against the tide with everyone else in agreement, but I really wouldn't shed a tear if Morales was assassinated. Though, I rather see him voted out of office after his term then shot.
Sorry, but I just don't like anyone that has the platform of "redistribution of wealth". That level of socialism is just repulsive and vile to me.
Also, before jumping to conclusions that this must be a Tom Clancy style CIA opp, let's keep in mind that Morales IS in fact pissing off a LOT of wealthy and powerful people in his own country, people that have the means and motives to do something like this . . . that's not to rule the CIA out, but I'm hardly convinced they were involved.

greed is a motherfucker. the moment a leader of color tries to take back their fair share of capital from the imperialists, death isnt far away. capitalists aren't only selfish, but murderers as well.

Correct Marcial. During the election times (in which both parties held numerous revolts) people realized that Evo was more "common man" than the other guy. He was once a poor farmer who went to growing drugs (which many communities do in Bolivia). He poured a lot of money back into his communities and Bolivian's figured with even more money and power, he could continue to do so.

Evo has made a lot of enemies, but he has even more supporters. He is the kind of leader that end being remembered as a man of the people.

The U.S has wanted him dead for a long time. Before he became president, Evo Morales, was the top cocaine grower in that part of south america and used his power and money to cause giant rebellions almost daily; including such tactics as blocking off major streets and threatening to kill those that opposed the "movement".

Considering the United States' history with Latin American countries, it wouldn't be much of a surprised if it WAS backed by the US.
Need remind us all of September 11, 1973? Chile and Salvador Allende?

Police chief Hugo Escobar said two Hungarians and a Bolivian, who were believed to be part of a conspiracy to kill Morales, were killed in the gunfight at a hotel in the eastern Bolivian city...
Speaking later on Thursday during a visit to Venezuela, Morales, who was not in Santa Cruz at the time of the incident shortly after midnight, said an Irish person may have been among what he called foreign mercenaries involved in the suspected plot.
hmm sounds like the above quote about the irish could be wrong. there were bolivians involved as well.

My friend spends 3-6 months in Bolivia every year, says it's one of the most free easy going places on the planet. Evo is a threat to the New World Order.... I don't think he so easy to corrupt?
