Now here's a creepy trend among young women. Apparently more and more ladies are forcing up the contents of their stomachs to make room for more alcohol! Girls, let's remind ourselves that purging is purging, and the idea that just puking up booze isn't the same as "true bulimia", it's not far off the mark. So if you're making the "I was wasted" excuse or know friends who are, it might be worth taking that into consideration. Binge drinking is a social problem, and coupling that with barfing does not suddenly make bulimia ok. I've certainly made myself sick to save myself from a wicked hangover, but never to carry on drinking! Do you know anyone who does this? Have you?

    • I've known boys that do this too. And the once when i tried it after hearing people rave about it i just felt just awful and ill and had to go home. It didn't even work. Never again.

    • This is so wrong. A little moderation wouldn't go amiss. I did once do this. I took part in a beer drinking competition to drink 5 pints in an hour (you had to drink a shot of beer every 30 seconds). I went for a tactical puke after pint 3. I did feel a sense of achievement on completing the challenge but it was short lived.

    • I've never been able to do this. It's gross. I've been really hungover and friends have said being sick is the only way to get over it... but i can't physically do it. How & why people do this regularly is a mystery to me. Especially to carry on drinking, I say, if you're sick, it's time to go home girls!

    • Does throwing up and then drinking more make any difference when it comes to blood alcohol level? I could be completely wrong here, but my first thought when I read this was that even though you've 'made room for more booze', you're still putting yourself at higher risk for alcohol poisoning by continuing to drink when you've clearly had enough.

    • So wait. They want to get drunk, but cannot accept the caloric consequences of drinking? They should switch to another drug.

    • When I was 30+ years younger, this was common with college age beer drinkers (including Me) & was called "booting"...in order to make room for more beer....(as written about in "National Lampoon")
I can't imagine doing it with "hard" liquor, since anytime I barfed while drinking distilled spirits, I was DONE for the night...of course nowadays, the very SMELL of booze is nauseating to Me, having been sober over 16 years...

    • No, nor have I ever personally made myself throw up, even to avoid a hangover. If I puke, I puke, if not, I pass out.

This is NOT a good trend to see in young women, but in general, throwing up and continuing to drink is glorified as the ole "Puke-And-Rally"!
