Bad news for Gordon Ramsay, whose reputation has taken numerous knocks over the past year as he has struggled to keep control of his recession-hit empire. Ramsay was not among the international food royalty who received gongs at the San Pellegrino World's 50 Best Restaurant awards in London last night.
Gordon has dropped out of the top 50 and failed to make it into the top 100 after being in 13th spot in the list last year. Earlier this year claims of financial problems were found among his businesses. Ramsay has attracted rumours losing some of his stars and he was forced to close a number of his restaurants. Last weekend he fell victim to a sting by the Sun newspaper, which caught his London gastro-pubs using pre-prepared meals including boil-in-a-bag coq au vin.

Ouch. That's gotta hurt for the man who undoubtedly has the biggest ego in the foodie world. To climb back up perhaps he should concentrate less on changing his chef whites and swearing on TV, and more on running his string of restaurants.
