Bush did not honourably lead America to war, but deliberately misled it into a war he wanted. The Bush administration consistently twisted and distorted the truth by omitting, exaggerating, or trivialising the facts to fit its purpose. Bush and his gang repeatedly told Americans that Saddam Hussein constituted an imminent threat to the security of the USA, but they kept the truth from the American people that their CIA was telling them the exact opposite, that Hussein and Iraq were not an imminent threat to the country. The CIA was explicit that only Al Qaeda was guilty of the attacks. Senator Edward Kennedy, condemning Bush, said that “Bush’s distortions misled Congress in its war vote” and “No President of the United States should employ distortion of truth to take the nation to war. So the consort that Congress gave Bush is nullified by the deliberate misinterpretations he made to Congress in inducing it to give him its consent.” The Bush administration continued to lie and they proceeded to dress up their lies with one distortion after another.

    • I watched W. and shocked....

      How most of politicians comes to politics? Mere merits (in Buddhism) of past life or a crooked creation of God's image (printing mistake), i can't understand.... hehe. No offense though.

    • I'm no Bush fan, I'm more in Kushan's camp. but has anyone looked at the cited article?! It's a Kennedy quote from 1990 having almost nothing to do with the poster's little manifesto.

    • well i beleive the election itself was rigged so i wouldent be surprized if this war was built out of lies itsself. our job is to prove the lies and follow the trail to bush or else he will never be prosacuted.

    • I'm not sure about this image choice. I'm sure that a lot of individuals will seize after seeing their dreams in reality. Furthermore, I doubt that the sites on WMDs look like this. All in all, I'm against photo shopping any public figure or celebrity this way; it's got to be unethical, even if I never agreed with (or liked) Bush...

      Hey numb-cunt, we were not attacked by Iraq, he invaded Iraq illegally and unnecessarily and it resulted in more civilian casualties and soldier casualties than all of the 9/11 deaths.

      Bush is the only terrorist here, he should be strung up with the likes of Mugabe.

      As a Republican, I want to apologize for this poor deluded fellow. We were never attacked by Iraq- yet Bush decided to use the excuse of Sept. 11th to go after Saddam Hussein, 'cause he wanted make his daddy proud of him. If George W, had sent our troops to find and kill Osama bin Laden, then he would "be the man". But he never did. He led us into war with a lie, that has killed thousands of our troops for no good reason. Mr. Bush should go on trial, but the past is the past, and we need to let go.....

      Norman Lamb said he was concerned about how the libel laws act as a constraint on investigative reporting and referred to the case of the British Iraqi billionaire Nadhmi Auchi.

      He said: "He is a British citizen – an Iraqi exile – and he is reported to be a multibillionaire. He was convicted in France in 2003 of fraud in a trial involving the oil company Elf. Importantly, he continues to assert his innocence of the charges – there was a conviction, but he is pursuing routes of appeal against it. He was barred from entering the United States in 2005.

      "My interest in the matter is in his connections to Tony Rezko, who was convicted of fraud, money laundering and bribe-related charges in Illinois, and who is currently in prison pending sentencing. We understand that sentencing has been delayed, and it has been suggested that he should talk to federal prosecutors, especially about allegations against Illinois governor [Rod] Blagojevich, which are being investigated.

      "There is political interest in the US because of the connections between Rezko and President-elect Obama. I make no allegation at all relating to the latter.

      "There have been reports that a company related to Mr Auchi registered a loan of $3.5m to Tony Rezko on 23 May 2005. That and other alleged connections are obviously of great interest to investigative journalists and others. More to the point, it is legitimate to investigate such a matter, given that Auchi is a prominent British citizen with political connections in this country and overseas. As I said, it is not appropriate to go into more detail, but it is alleged that Mr Auchi and his lawyers, Carter-Ruck, have been making strenuous efforts to close down public debate. Of course, it is absolutely legitimate for any citizen to demand accurate and rigorous investigation and reporting. The question is whether UK libel laws have the disproportionate effect of discouraging legitimate reporting. Many believe that they do."
