The internet is one of the few remaining places for free speech that the citizens of our country, and others, have come to take refuge in.
'Cyber Security' is what the government is labeling this struggle for Internet control as.
Giving the Internet to the government is like giving power tools to a group of toddlers, they will only hurt themselves and others.

Saladin:
The purpose is to define when it is appropriate, to define limitations, to give expectations.
As it stands now, it may be (in theory) UNLIMITED. That is to say there is no directly applicable standard that could be applied if the president acted right now. This bill creates a standard.
We are safer (internet) w/ this bill than without it

We should put up a massive resistance to any attempt to regulate or control the internet.

with 3 major trunk services for US each rated in the 100s of g/s one has a couple tb/sec bandwidth back east, control the junctions of the major 3 at the 1/2 dozen or so cities they run through and you could strangle bandwidth to sites that don:t conform to "security" if not cut off entirely. so its possible with the will of the reps to do, question is can we ween ourselves off broadband internet by not subscribing long enough to make the ISPs bow to the clients or is that what they would use to dismantle the system through "lack of use" as a lot of it is subsidized by states and feds for emergency comm reasons. its a double edged issue if it passes to be or not to be a descent-er.
