    • i heard somewhere that the san diego fires that happened year after year for 6 years? had been set by SDG&E. so far san diego hasn't been hit this year. from my memory, this is the second year in a row that santa barbara has been hit by a large fire. could it be SBG&E?

    • Do we really need a melodic rthym playing to people's houses burning? I mean, The Roof is on Fire might as well be playing.

    • Sad knowing the government starts most of these fires, "Controlled fires" Haha, that's like calling the Federal Reserve a long-run asset!

    • Looks like they got a bit of a break with the weather. I feel terrible for the people and animals being hurt by these fires.

    • Last year many of the devastating fires where set. Arson takes a huge toll on California. I feel bad for people that have to leave their homes and belongings and return to rubbles.

    • California Dreaming on a Winters Day. Every state has a season, this is Californias: Its really rather normal. Though it is true human negligence is the cause for propelling the bulk of it, there is a reason why California gets more than its fare share. It is actually rather normal to have fires in California, even pre-man days. Some trees actually disperse seeds that require fire in order to germinate in California. If trees have planned this, you have to look at it as rather normal. California fires were there before man, are accelerated during its time here, and will continue long after.

They paved paradise and put up a parking lot,
With a pink hotel, a boutique,
      And a swinging hot spot.
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got till it's gone?
They paved paradise and put up a parking lot.
They took all the trees and put them in a tree museum.
And they charged all the people
A dollar and a half just to see 'em.
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got till it's gone?
They paved paradise and put up a parking lot.

Hey, farmer, farmer, put away that D.D.T., now!
Give me spots on my apples
But leave me the birds and the bees, please!
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got till it's gone?
They paved paradise and put up a parking lot.

Late last night I heard the screen door slam.
And a big yellow taxi took away my old man.
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got till it's gone?
They paved paradise and put up a parking lot.

      Thanks Joni

    • Sad sad sad. I wish there was a way to gather the brush so that there wouldn't be so many fires! Maybe as a community service?

Prayers for the families that are affected by the fires. God listens even if many of you think I'm silly to pray.

    • Wild fires are nothing new to (Southern) California. Beach Boys even made a song called Malibu Fires.

There's a lot of dry vegetation, low humidity, and strong gust of dry winds (Santa Ana winds). Which equates to tons of giant, red fires.

No, it is not an act of god trying to "punish" us because we are a bunch of liberal, scandalous, promiscuous, gay-loving people.

    • The climate and plant life here makes fire unfortunately very common. A lot of hot weather, strong winds and dried out plants = lots of big fires.

But usually it is not arson. Like ghost said, they always investigate these things.

    • I'm not a scientist but am I the only one who thinks CA's getting way to many forest fires? Could it be man made? Maybe they should do an investigation.

I'm just saying. There's eco terrorist who could be setting forests on fire. Or it could be natural. I know CA broke but for the public's safety cant they prevent this from happening too much or is it a lost cause?

    • It is a sad reality,..living in California year after year with very little rain, a population boom taking more water from our reservoirs, and poor land/farm management that keeps California in a continual state of "tinderbox." You will see fires every year in CA directly related to poor policy and planning.

"You will see fires every year in CA directly related to poor policy and planning."

Uh no, there will be fires regardless of how well we plan for them.

And, for the record, the fire department does a great job making sure people clear their brush or otherwise prepare for fires.

Sometimes, shit happens, and there isn't any "policy" that would have prevented it.

It bugs the shit out of me that you'd say something that pretentious and ignorant.
