A woman who plummeted 20ft "like a rag doll" in a paragliding accident was apparently saved from more serious injury by her washboard stomach.

47-year-old Peggy Williams, who says she only does a quick "one minute exercise regime" per day, fell on to a rocky outcrop after a freak gust of wind flipped her paraglider.

Miss Williams said: "More than one doctor has said that being so fit is what saved my life. I do 15 sit-ups and 30 bicycle sit-ups, or lateral crunches, every day - it's just a one-minute regime.

"I also run two or three times a week, and together that keeps me fit. The muscles acted like a girdle to protect me."

    • 47??????? Damn, she looks amazing. I'm not convinced however that all she does is a bit of running and 7 minutes of abs a week. She's paraglides and is knock knock knocking on menopause's door for Pete's sake, she does more.

    • Sort of reminds me of this story, only without the bitchin' abs. I read in another reporting that supposedly the only reason this guy survived was due to his being unconscious during the flight. He doesn't even remember a thing. His body was limp as a rag doll upon impact, probably saving his life. Had he been conscious and tensed up upon hitting the ground, his shins probably would have shaken hands with his collar bones via his chest cavity.

    • Lucky for her she has the body type that stays fit with only a little bit of exercise. But considering that she is also paragliding, I'm gonna guess she's a pretty active person on the whole which probably helps her maintain her washboard abs. The human body is an amazing thing, that's for sure.

Any body is an amazing thing.

The sheer power inside of something the size of a cougar is absolutely mind blowing.

I'm even stunned by just how powerful a bear is given its size. I mean it isn't small but the rate of strength to size is absolutely mind blowing when comparing them to humans.
