U.S. military identifies sergeant charged in Baghdad shooting

BenDorries
The U.S. identified Sergeant John M. Russell as the shooter in yesterdays horrific murder of 5 fellow service members.

"Perkins said Russell's commanders in recent days had asked him to seek counseling. Out of concern for his welfare, they took the rare measure of taking his weapon away, Perkins said. That measure is typically taken when soldiers exhibit violent or suicidal behavior.

It is unclear where he got the weapon used in the shooting. Perkins did not say what type of weapon was used."

Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates stated that the military needs " toredouble its efforts to relieve the stress caused by repeated deployments in war zones with limited time at home in between."

    • As these clusterfucks continue, you'll see many more of these incidents. As long as you have an insane foreign policy, a philosophy of endless war, you'll see more. You'll probably see some GI Jane rape victim striking back with a "pineapple", as well. I certainly don't want to see things like this, but it's no surprise. It's only a matter of time before more GI's snap.
