The audience at the Whitechapel Gallery, where William was opening the newly expanded centre, must have wondered what was coming next. A confession that he did not really know the first thing about modern art? The announcement that he and Kate were going to get married? Something ghastly involving Damien Hirst?
“I am actually . . . Banksy,” the Prince said. “I thought that this would be a good forum to bring it out.” He paused, then added: “Any autographs I will do later.”

I have to say, not an entirely terrible joke for the guy to make. It's almost, given the circumstances he was in, actually quite witty. And surprisingly timely too, seeing as Banksy's apparently just done a 'self portrait'.
The Royal Family aren't exactly know for their finger-on-the-pulse humour... except the Queen Mum. Apparently she did a mean Ali G impression:
"'She saw Ali G click his fingers and say "Respec", and Harry and I [William] showed her what to do. After three goes she had it. Later that day, we were all in the dining room, having Christmas lunch, when she tried it out.'
His brother Harry, who is currently on holiday from Eton, said: 'It was the end of the meal, and she stood up and said, "Darling, lunch was marvellous - respec", and clicked her fingers.'
Apparently the whole royal family, including the Queen, burst out laughing. "
