"...I have been assassinated by the Guatemala President"

elnawal
"Good evening, my name is Rodrigo Rosemberg Marzano, and if you're are looking at this video right now, it's because I have been assassinated by the President of Guatemala..."

It seems the beginning of a movie, but it's not. It's Guatemala attorney Rodrigo Rosenberg announced chronicle of his assassination.

He was found dead this pass Sunday May the 10th while perusing a case that involved the complot to kill another Guatemalan civilian and his daughter and exposing the TERRIBLE case of corruption from Alvaro Colom's government.

After he was threatened by the president secretary if he perused with his investigation,
he recorded this video, and send it to different media with original copies from all the documents that prove culpability of all the government members involve; high rank government members that he blamed of he's assassination while being alive.

The video is on Spanish but if you follow the link to the Witness.org site there is a full translated document of his last speech.

This is the voice of a man who openly give his life for others to create a change.

-" I am not a hero, I wasn't born to be one, I have four beautiful children and the best brother life could have gave me. I just hope my death sets a statement to make a change and not become another mislead statistic."

Rodrigo Rosemberg.

    • The event isn't funny per se but the people condeming the government with insufficient information to back up the theory.

Rodrigo Rosemberg gave his life to prove there's corruption in Central and South America, okay thanks for clarifying that.

    • I don't think nothing around this event is funny, never the less, the "ACTUAL FACT" is that this man was assassinated. Regardless the political inclination of the party that he accuses.

I would dare to say more, if looking for factual info,
the corruption levels in South and Central America are outrageous, center, left, guerrillas, paramilitary...Every where...

I think the story of Rodrigo Rosemberg is a proven fact, he actually give his life to prove it.

    • It's funny how people immediately jump to conclusions without having actual facts.

"Colom's 2007 election victory gave Guatemala its first leftist leader since Jacobo Arbenz was thrown out of office in 1954 by a CIA-orchestrated coup."

    • Amazing calm - and intelligence - as he faced his impending murder. His presence of mind foiled the attempt to suppress the information, but what a sadness that they killed him.

    • VOTE UP PLEASE
I am Guatemalan and I have family in Guatemala that are being affected by all the violence that surrounds them. People's houses are just robbed with it's residents are killed with sometimes NO justice. People have been turning away from all the violence for too long. Spreading the word helps to get more people informed about what is happening there.

    • Is it ant wonder why our brothers and sisters from the south come here to seek a better life. the argument that thet're "taking our jobs" just seems so shallow and racist when you read a story like this. This man gave his life for something that he believed in, I respect that, and I wish his family well.

    • The good ones do things like this; the bad ones always fight to stay in power and controlling the media really helps that end. The only chance is for someone close to assassinate corrupt leaders, one by one. But then as soon as the new guy gets a taste of power the process is repeated. Where are all the philosopher kings now?

Nobody votes for them, because "they dont' have a chance."

Who would vote for Ron Paul, Dennis Kucinich, Mike Gravel, Ralph Nader, Cynthia McKinney, David Cobb, et al?

All told, less than 5% of Americans.

Truth only has a chance if you work for it.
This guy did that. He is a hero.

    • Man, I feel terrible for his children. Their father was a good person, though. I hope they know why he did what he did. The world needs more of this kind of human.

    • This story is gripping. I recently returned from a trip to Guatemala with the humanitarian organization, Hearts in Motion. As a followup to this trip, researching corruption in the Guatemalan educational system, I used my passable skills in Spanish-speaking to read the Guatemalan constitution. Its lofty rhetoric does not compare to the types of things one actually sees.

The current Guatemalan president is neither fair nor popular. My only experience with him is when I was told that he wants to heavily tax all of the medical donations teams like mine regularly bring down.

The emergence of this story is very upsetting, but hardly surprising. I am thankful that Mr. Rosenberg had the foresight to record this testimony, but am saddened by his violent end.
