"In all seriousness, I come here not to dispute the suggestion that I haven't yet achieved enough in my life. I come to embrace it; to heartily concur; to affirm that one's title, even a title like President, says very little about how well one's life has been led - and that no matter how much you've done, or how successful you've been, there's always more to do, more to learn, more to achieve."

"If Martin Luther King was alive today, he would surely support Obama." Actually, highly unlikely. Martin Luther King was a Republican. King's children support Obama. No surprise there. They are corrupt, morally bankrupt, trying to shake down people and profit off of their late father. Sickening.
Fr. Jenkins agrees 100% with Obama. As a representative of the catholic faith, that is reprehensible. Look at the racist politicians of the 60's- they were all democrats. The racist political cartoonists of today who targeted Clarence Thomas, Condaleeza Rice, and other Black Republicans? Democrats, all.
Let's face it, Mosely Braun, Sharpton, Jackson are all democrats, and 90% of African Americans support them. The ones that don't? Such luminaries like Thomas Sowell, Larry Elder, Ken Hamblin, Shelby Steele, John McWhorter, among others, including Dr. Alveda King, Martin Luther King Jr's. niece. As MLK said, "The Negro cannot win as long as he is willing to sacrifice the lives of his children for comfort and safety." Compare this to Obama who actually spoke out against a bill in the Illinois legislature that would have provided medical care for newborns who survived botched abortions. Quite telling was the fact that he was the only one who not only voted against this legislation, he actually spoke out against it!! Also by MLK, "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." www.NBRA.info - 2 years ago

Obama was not given a Honorary Doctorate Degree only because he is African American !!!!!!!!!! His Body Of Works stand for itself...........He is more accomplished than his awardee........The majority of African Americans are Christians however, they are not hypocrites ......American Catolics want to judge Black Christians when a large portion of their Priests are pedophiles and they are only transferred to another location and they continue to support their church......African Americans always support the Democratic Party............They voted for Kerry, Gore,Clinton, Carter and Kennedy and they didn't support Carol Mosley Braum, Sharpton or Jackson....If Martin Luther King was alive today, he would surely support Obama. King's children supports Obama..African Americans don't agree with all of Obamas policies but he was the best choice. He was the smartest, honest, articulate most educated and a extremely hard worker and very energetic.

The first person of color to achieve this goal.....In essence, we elected a president because he was the right skin color. Wow. I feel Martin Luther King had it right when he said we should judge a person by the content of their character and NOT by the color of their skin. The great majority of African Americans are Christian- and yet they voted for someone who did not share their character- who wants to wants to make us an amoral society, in opposition to christian beliefs and mores. The character of Obama is so opposed to that of Black America, most of whom have a strong christian faith. Martin Luther King did more great things for this country in his brief life than Obama will ever do, even if he lives to be 100! www.nbra.info

Even though I whole heartedly agree that no matter how much we achieve in a Lifetime, there is always room for more. Most of us don't come near fufilling our full potential. It is more than humble?, for him to say he has not reached his pennacle. HOWEVER, I SAY, many Honorary Dotorate Degrees are awarded each year for so much less.
How much higher can you fly, than President of the United States. Not withstanding his prior Accomplshments in Community Service, an Attorney, and Head of a Dept., at a major University?
Not to mention the 1st person on color, to attain this goal??!! It is my prediction that History will record him as one of the Nations best!
(Do we really get it....How many people will become President of the USA?!) Just think about it.
