After a a prolonged battle with anal cancer over the past two years, Charlie’s Angels actress Farrah Fawcett is reported to be near death.

Following her admittance to a Los Angeles hospital, Fawcett is now on intravenous. She is said to be unconscious while in a critical yet stable condition.

“She’s a fighter,” a friend of Fawcett’s said, “but we get the sense that she knows the end is coming. But we’re still praying for a miracle.”

All of this came at a time when NBC was set to air “Farrah’s Story,” a documentary chronicling Fawcett’s struggle with cancer.

Despite an ongoing legal battle over the documentary, NBC was undeterred from airing it on its scheduled release date of May 15.

Fawcett herself recently said that she wasn’t sure that her real-life death drama would ever be seen. “But at some point,” she said, “the footage took on a life of its own and dictated that it be seen.”

“It’s a gruesome story, it’s a terrible story,” said Fawcett’s longtime lover Ryan O’Neal in regards to the documentary, “but sometimes out of terrible stories come a light and a hope.”

Fawcett has not won an Emmy for acting in television series
like “Charlie’s Angels” or critically acclaimed TV movies such as “The Burning Bed,” however “Farrah’s Story” may contend at the Emmy Awards as either outstanding nonfiction special or for the juried award for exceptional merit in nonfiction film making.

As the sun seems to be disappearing beneath the horizon of Fawcett’s life, the world marvels at a woman who continues to be a pop-culture icon even decades after her heyday.

    • How is she brave? She is no different than any other person who faces the same struggles anonymously.

There is no blame about her being rich, but the struggles of the rich are made to be greater than the average person. If this was about bringing a face to cancer, with all their combined money why didn't they have a documentary about the plight of the poor who go through the same battle and love their family all the same, but don't have access to the same care and treatment. I

n this aristocracy it seems the rich and famous are the only ones who are brave, noble, etc. You know what courage is ... getting up each day and going to work ... living your life in quiet desperation is tough when you are not rich and famous nor entitled to the best of everything. What about people who don't have access to medical care in this country and either get the diagnosis too late or can't afford the treatments. Are they not as good as a washed up drug addicted movie star?

While I am sad that she has cancer, I think that the money used to make this documentary would have been better spent helping less fortunate people battle their own cancers.

    • Identifying with Farrah through her story made her
suddenly real like a friend or sister. As a sensitive, determined woman, Farrah loves life and wants to awaken others to appreciate theirs.
Her positive sense of happiness in the midst of cancer came through to beat that disease which claims to destroy lives.
I now understand Farrah's dire condition, yet Farrah's Story left me newly aware of 'how much love' Farrah has shared with the world and has deeply given to her immediate family and friends.
Thank you, Farrah, for your long lasting story.
      May you be forever loved!

    • I watched the documentary last night on NBC, that was just about the most depressing thing ever. Such a strong woman. I pray for her.
