Pakistans army has begun to punish the taliban insurgents in Swat Valley even as US military drones continue to devastate the western regions. The Taliban's breaking of the peace deal and washingtons insistence have swung the pakistan army into full force. The brutal actions of the Taliban have been published throughout the nation triggering a backlash against the Taliban, effectively ending the tacit support of large sections of the population that came in response to drone attacks in Waziristan.Their days are numbered.

Already the Obama effect is reaping rewards for the world. Pakistan has finally awoke and is doing what they know they had to do, I think the President's meeting with the Pakistan's leader has a lot to do with the shift made.

realistically they shot themselves in the foot, their actions in the more moderate sections of pakistan were widely publicized and condemned and turned the tide of public support away from them. if the pakistan army plays it smart the insurgents will be crushed. ...which is what it looks like is happening.
