"It's time to act now... We have to do it this year, not next year," Gore told the World Business Summit on Climate Change in Copenhagen.
"The clock is ticking because Mother Nature does not do bailouts," he said.

Either way, it's pathetic that we have no one to turn to in this world to determine if all of the shit we've been consuming and discharging on this planet is responsible for the GD temperature going up or not.
I honestly hope something comes along and turns this whole place into a glass bowl tomorrow morning. It makes my f'n stomach turn to KNOW that the primary source of controversy on this issue comes from the corporations that would much rather pay a bunch of skank whore scientist to lie and manipulate the facts so they can keep dumping their toxic shit wherever they damn well please... along with all the fat lazy loud mouth worthless sacks of shit that would much rather believe that global warming is a hoax because they think this Earth was put here to keep their gluttonous assess swollen, and it's entirely too much fucking trouble to get up and change the light bulbs in their precious little boxes. - 2 years ago

The misinformation out there is unbelievable. It amazes me how people can be totally manipulated by information put out by lobbyists and hack scientists while ignoring information from the world's best scientists.

Al Gore is using his position to do something positive for the world - not many politicians can say that even if they'd like to.

A) I have asked professors about this. Most give the following answer. "We don't know". That's the truth. As of yet we don't know how much of an impact we are actually having on global warming.
B) However, the Ocean is what, 70% tapped out? It's filled with plastic in some places miles in all directions. The reefs are dying out. Hundreds of species are going extinct every year (or is it faster?). Our drinking water is filled with everything from estrogen to carcinogens. We have rampant waste issues. We're overpopulated in terms of sustainability. We can't even exist unless were expanding economically. The rainforests are stabilizing slowly (this is the good news) but we're putting more and more pollutants into the very air that we breathe. We are blowing the fuck out of our mountains simply to keep the lights on.
So regardless of whether the planet is melting we fucking need to address the issue of energy and pollution or we all will die (or live horribly diseased lives).

Global temperature variations have a much stronger and longer correlation with solar activity and cosmic rays than atmospheric CO2 content. Those scientists that attribute a portion of warming to CO2 do so (I highly suspect) so that the real evidence is more accepted politically and they have no other explaination. (JUst because you cannot fully explain a phenomenon, though, is no reason to credit a fundamentally flawed view)
CO2 emmisions were politicized by Al Gore and his liberal cronies to villainize the oil industry, an historically Republican friendly industry. This is no different than the insanity of pursuing ethanol as fuel; a politically motivated solution to our energy problem that simply doesn't make sense. It's time to put aside politics and truthfully seek a way forward that will solve our looming energy problems.

Even though Mr. Gore help currentTv get started, he has done one incredible misdeed. With his eco-documentary An Inconvenient Truth, Gore misrepresented the facts about CO2 emissions and its relation to global warming. There is absolutely no correlation between global temperature and CO2 emissions, whatsoever. This claim is backed by nearly 32,000 scientists in America, alone. No correlation exists between the rising levels of CO2 and global warming. Water vapor plays a larger role as a greenouse gas than does CO2. Levels of CO2 act as a function of rising global temperature. With global temperatures rising, the solubility of CO2 in the world's oceans decreases, resulting in the oceans release of CO2 into the atmosphere. Al Gore and the IPCC had it all backwards. Now I am not denying that humans have made a huge impact on the earth, such as the release of CFC into the atmosphere, shrinking the ozone layer, or the damage caused by petroleum based plastics. But global warming caused by CO2 emissions is not one of them. The earth is very efficient and has its own ways of dealing with CO2. If it did not, we would not be able to enjoy the transitions of the seasons. And by the way, the emissions of CO2 released by humans is completely dwarfed by the CO2 output by natural means. Humans release a mere 3% of all global CO2 emissions. This is all a sham, so some profiteers can take advantage of the green movement with their "carbon taxes." Taxing carbon will do nothing to the benefit of the earth or humankind, and will only make times harder for the average american with increasing prices for utilities and gasoline. CO2 is not a pollutant and we would not be here without it. It is vital for our survival. Man should continue his quest for renewable energy sources, but to tax CO2 is just insane. Please do not trust what politicians say but do your homework. Live a healthier, greener life, but there is no need to fear your output of CO2.

So you are going to base your opinion on this issue from a Robert A. Ashworth who is not a scientist?
If you are actually interested in the issue, you can read my blog, where I have outlined the scientific history of global warming and the background of the scientists who oppose it.

Knowledge on a topic as important as this should only come from reputable sources, and those who do not have vested financial interests in continuing fossil fuel use.

So, that might make sense, but only if you ignore the excellent video jefftego posted about the sun's effect on temperature that might seem legitimate.
Additionally if you go to the link you quoted the information comes from a group called the Space and Scientific Research Center (SSRC), that consists of one guy, with a BA in Math and Physics. You can read more about his lack of qualifications here.

If you are actually interested in why there is so much misinformation on the internet, you can read my blog, that only uses research from legitimate scientific sources, not funded by fossil fuel companies.
http://lawandeviro.blogspot.com/
Like you and everyone else, I do not want more taxes in my life, nor do I want big government interfering with my day to day activities. However, global warming, and our dependence on fossil fuels that contribute to it, is an issue that "free market" capitalism will not solve on its own. Unless by solving, you mean potentially displacing millions and having far greater economic impacts than any tax would.

Exactly. There are two sides to this equation. We also need to realize that if we as consumers did not consume so much and waste so much that we would save as well. I frankly don't have faith and trust in corporations like PEPSI to stop stealing water. Their whole reason for being in business is to make profit at any expense. To think they will suddenly grow a moral conscience now is actually laughable. And even should they come to accept this bill because the targets are so low ( if unchanged as the process goes along) they will still be working behind the scenes to make up for any loss they calculate from having to abide by those targets.
Therefore, in the end as has always been the case, it falls upon US to do what is necessary to streamline our consumptive lifestyles and hit them where it hurts the most. We did it last year as gas prices rose. Co 2 emissions reportedly went down a bit because people were not driving as much. Why can't we do that when gas prices fall simply because it is the right thing to do?
And also, we must continue to keep calling our Congressional representatives to tell them that this bill needs STRENGHTHENING, and that without it, we as consumers and VOTERS will then have to consider making certain decisions regarding our votes should our will and the needs of this planet for our future survival not be met NOW.

This is a video of Al Gore's Challenge to each person. It really breaks it down for consumers on deadlines Gore has set and is it achievable. Also what changes can consumers make to help reduce the effect of climate change.
