Al-Nakba The Palestinian Catastrophe of 1948

The Palestinian Exile, also known as Al Nakba (Arabic for "The Catastrophe"), refers to the ethnic cleansing of native Palestinian peoples ... all » during the 1948 Arab-Israeli war.
From December 1947 until November 1948, Zionist forces (namely the Irgun, Lehi, Haganah terrorist gangs) expelled approximately 750, 000 indigenous Palestinians—almost 2/3 of the population—from their homes.
Hundreds of Palestinians were also murdered for refusing to leave their homes. The most notable massacre is the Deir Yassin Massacre, in which an estimated 120 Palestinian civilians were brutally murdered by an Irgun-Lehi force. Other massacres include the ones at Sahila (70-80 killed), Lod (250 killed), and Abu Shusha (70 killed). About 40 other massacres were carried out by Zionist forces in just the summer of 1948.

before 1948 thier wasnt a state of isreal, no infrastructure no president, no recognized leadership, yet some how these evil isrealis (who at the time were just small groups of jews) formed multiple military groups from the old jdl to the palmach, irgun and haganah. why did middle eastern jews militarize? must be an evil conspiracy or if you use logic it was for defense. but who are they defending themselves from oh yeah the arab populations that had been kicking their passive ass's around for 2 thousand yrs. just as we all champion the do it yourself attitude so did they and they revolted against thier oppressors demanding freedom for themselves just as the colonies did to england just as iran did to america and countless other independant states have. but antisemetism says that this process is good unless it is done by jews. if zionism is also ethnic cleansing why are thier overt a million muslum arabs allowed to live freely in isreal. why in 8 yrs did hitler kill 6 million but in 60 yrs isreal killed far far less? while the statistics are acurrate they are used out of context to paint the jews as evil. they ignore the jews offering to live with the palastinians in peace and the palastinians refusing, they ignore decades of arab aggression towards an unprotected jewish population.when jews go to the western wall to pray and palastinians make a hobby of throwing rocks at them it creates an us and them situation that the post holocaust jews needed to overcome for basic survival. ignoring all of this and just spouting stats on the suffering of the palastinians and ignoring the suffering of the jews is propaganda.

If somebody came into my country and cut babies out of their mother's stomach's and tried to herd me out of my homeland I would be resisting to the death.
the article below sheds some light on the term "anti-semite" which has been diluted into meaning only anti jews. The real meaning of the term:
"Oxford dictionary defines the word anti-Semitism as “hatred toward members of any of the races supposed to be descended from Shem (Gen.10.21) including the Hebrews, Arabs, Assyrians, Arameans, Phoenicians, and Assyrians."

History is important, there (and these specific incidents) are things we must never forget.
That being said, it is time to stop pointing fingers. Israel (the Jewish State) is NEVER going to leave. Now, can we work on practical solutions to the problems between Israel and the Palestinians?
These stories (while vitally important pieces of history) are the same as when numerous people called George Bush a Nazi..Hitler...etc. And never once did anything to solve the problem. And, YES the average, everyday, ordinary citizen would have, ALL ON HIS OWN, solved what people thought of as the Bush problem. Without even having to vote.
(No, I am not talking about a revolution either.)

True...and I suppose it IS possible that Israel could be dismantled, or destroyed. This would only happen, however, at an enormous cost of lives. Israel is a Nuclear power, and they WILL use their bombs if pushed. This is the only way they could lose, if after NUKING their enemies (which would cost MILLIONS and MILLIONS of lives) they were overwhelmed.
If this is a possible scenario to you, and I will concede it is, then perhaps you and I should be doing everything we can to prevent it.

It could also simply be dismantled by itself if the US stops financing it with billions of dollars every year. Also, there is a growing trend of Israelis leaving Israel to go back to their own, original countries - if this trend continues for a few decades, Israel will not have enough citizens to survive as a state.

Rethinking The Costs Of Peace
By Josh Ruebnerhttp://www.countercurrents.org/ruebner250509.htm
By asking earlier this month for $2.775 billion in military aid to Israel in his FY2010 budget request, it would seem that on this important policy issue President Obama’s commitment is more rhetorical than substantive. Since 1949, according to the Congressional Research Service, the United States has provided to Israel more than $100 billion in military and economic assistance
========
Conditioning U.S. military aid to Israel in the same way would prevent these weapons from being used to kill innocent Palestinian civilians.
As President Obama has stated, “We can't sustain a system that bleeds billions of taxpayer dollars, on programs that have outlived their usefulness or exist solely because of the power of politicians, lobbyists or interest groups. We simply can't afford it.” In regard to U.S. aid to Israel, this is true as much from a budgetary standpoint as it is from a moral one.

For nearly 42 years, Israel's occupation policies have gravely harmed the human rights of Palestinians and caused "large-scale forced displacement....within the Occupied Palestinian Territory," even prior to Operation Cast Lead. Displacement results from:
-- incursions;
-- military clearing operations;
-- home demolitions and evictions;
-- land expropriation;
-- settlement expansions;
-- the Separation Wall;
-- settler violence and harassment;
-- closures, barriers, and checkpoints that deny free movement;
-- revocation of East Jerusalem residency rights; and
-- denial of construction permits to build on one's own land.
Operation Cast Lead alone left about 72,000 persons displaced, according to a shelter/Intern Development Programme preliminary report - conducted in 45 Gaza localities several days after the conflict ended.
International law prohibits forced displacement, yet Israel caused it by targeting densely populated areas with bombings, shellings and ground assaults. Thousands fled to UN shelters in terror. They, too, were then attacked.
Currently tens of thousands remain displaced because their homes were destroyed, and no materials are available to rebuild them. As a result, they're staying in poor, overcrowded areas in the open, or when possible, with members of extended families - already overstretched by impoverishment, inadequate food, water, electricity, and basic non-food items and facilities like mattresses, blankets, and enough space for new arrivals. The overall humanitarian situation is far more dire than before hostilities began given the vast amount of destruction, deaths and injuries over the three-week period.
============================
HRC Recommendations
Briefly they include:
-- Israel's cooperation with HRC investigators;
-- ending the siege;
-- allowing unimpeded access and safe passage for humanitarian aid, including food, medicines, fuel, agricultural inputs, construction materials, and whatever else is needed to sustain, rebuild, and revive the shattered Territory;
-- let sick and injured persons be treated abroad and in Israel;
-- let those wishing to do so travel and study abroad; and
-- end all violations of binding international laws and commit no breaches thereof - to include:
(1) abiding by the principles of distinction, proportionality, and precaution;
(2) ending the killing of civilians;
(3) no longer using human shields;
(4) ending extrajudicial assassinations;
(5) terminating the use of illegal weapons like white phosphorous; and
(6) prohibiting attacks on medical personnel, ambulances, hospitals, schools, civilian infrastructure, UN buildings, and other non-military sites.
HRC also calls on UN entities to assess Palestinian needs and contribute to the wide-scale reconstruction of Occupied Palestine, including the vast amount of damage done to Gaza. It also asks the international community for help through the Security Council, International Court of Justice, and UN human rights mechanisms - and for all states to abide by international humanitarian law and work to restore a battered Palestine. Holding Israel accountable for its war crimes is a good way to start.

i always wonder if people simply aren't aware that this type of thing took place when they talk about how israel was "defending itself" from it's inception. defending itself from what? people trying to stop war atrocities? genocide? bah. it's so stupid and pointless now. at this point i have to wonder if zionism wasn't worse than the holocaust. how many people have died directly because of israel or tensions over israel (and how many more indirectly)? how many people are living in refugee camps or ghetto's because of it?
zionism will be the most likely start of the third world war. which is why so many psychopath fundamentalists in america support it. and still they would deny it. if i could press a button and make israel disappear, i would.
sigh.
