Ron Prentice a leader in the anti-equality movement said, "It's the will of God to protect marriage. . . . We will be victorious because God goes before us."
Not in attendance was the First Amendment separating Church and State.

This is ridiculous and so is this lady.I can't stand the fact that everyone who is against same sex marriage has to drag the crucifix or a holy bible into the situation.Same sex couples are not the antichrist,we don't need a exorcism. We are humans beings who walk and share the same earth though we can not live equal rights within this country. It is understandable to have your own beliefs but how can you live with yourself knowing that you cause thousands of people to not have a normal life in the union of marriage.
Banning same sex marriage only creates more hate and frustration among another lifestyle.Living this life is not a choice,we can't just go back and change our hearts.Having a union in marriage is significant and especially to those who can not have it will fight for it.It's not as if the gay society is shrinking,it's only getting bigger.
Keep religion out of law.God doesn't hate anyone.

Does separation of church and state mean anything to people anymore?

Pacard:
Yes and no.
Yes. A minority of fanatical Christians (whose conduct and lack of conscience in no way resembles the teachings of Christ) think they own the state and can dictate to it at whim.
No. Such wingnuts and hate-groups do not come close to owning the state. The idea is laughable and those laughing most are atop the Big Business community.
The "Church" that the founders warned about has morphed into another form. It considers itself to important to be governed by any power or for any reason and as the founders warned - it is corrupting the political system from top to bottom. Ike saw it 50 years ago and he was ignored.
The strongest this country has ever been (across the board) saw business tightly regulated and monopolies busted when they damaged too much to be tolerated.
After 8 years of Bush Administration insanity, and the carnage left behind, it is obvious that to restore the system will require that business, like the Church, be kept at arm's length
There is too much to lose to think otherwise and the idea of two mutually canceling forms of government - one elected, the other not - is absurd.

you're right, spanky. no change whatsoever. let's go back to the good ol' days where cotton was picked by slaves and women couldn't vote. let me quit my job, have my man buy me an apron and some gloves, and i'll get to the kitchen right away. that's my place anyway. change is bad, very bad.

Its extraordinary how many times I find myself having to repeat that religion has no influence on what should be law because of the separation between church and state.
Your Christian? Awesome.
But it doesn't matter because what appears in your holy book should have no influence on what becomes law. This is what the Founding Fathers envisioned...
Come to me with an objection of Gay marriage that does not stem from RELIGION and maybe I might take you more seriously...

oh, it's just wrong. two men together? gross. two women tho, well, they can't get hitched either, 'cause they need to be as available as possible for more women to join in the sexy fun. those are great, bible-free reasons, yeah?
seriously tho, i'll listen to some serious objections too. i don't think the human race will be doomed from fewer babies 'cause men marry men and women marry women.
