Jacqui Smith to stand down as Home Secretary

The row over MP's expenses looks like it's lost one of the most high profile ministers as Home Secretary, Jacqui Smith, is about to resign. There have been weeks of speculation about her ability to stay in the cabinet but it seems enough is enough. Transport secretary Geoff Hoon and Chancellor Alistair Darling's future's also look in doubt.

When has there ever been so many parliamentary resignations before in such a short space of time?
