Police say Ava Maria Gordon, 42, started the dispute with her father when it was discovered that a left over dinner roll, marked to not be eaten, was taken.

She then stabbed her father, 62-year-old Greg Gordon, and fled after he called the police.

    • I find it notable that once the man is dead, the old abuse excuse comes into play just as we saw with Mary Winkler when she shot Matt in the back as he laid sleeping. The big problem, is that it works far too often although the man is no longer here to defend himself.

In reality, this is further abusing the man by destroying his name when he can not defend himself.

"Women Who Kill Too Much and the Courts That Free Them: The Twelve 'Female-Only' Defenses" excerpted from The Myth of Male Power by Warren Farrell, Ph.D. points this out well.

I have seen too many times where women have murdered men and then used the abuse excuse in the complete absence of any evidence of abuse on this part and actually, a lot of evidence that she was the abuser such as with Tacoma police Chief David Brame who supposedly killed his "battered" wife then himself.

We need to hold both men and women equally accountable and responsible for their behavior and give equal time for equal crime.

    • How much damage could a 62 yr old man do to a 42 year old woman?? Was he a bodybuilder?? If he was able to defend himself in the least this would not have happened. Her actions go extemely farther than self defense, and anyone knows that multiple stabbings to ones head will most likely wind up in the death of the person getting stabbed......

    • The dead man can not tell his side of the story. The facts speak loud and clear this woman stabbed her father multiple times. He died after wounds to head, arm, etc. My impression is this woman brutally murdered her father and it could not be in self defense.

    • The text doesn't address the fact that she claims that her father was trying to kill her. May or may not be true, but obviously this goes beyond dinner rolls.
