McCainiac, I take issue with only one sentence in your post: "It's a psychotic and addicting."
Cannabis is not addicting. It creates no dependency; physical or psychological. No withdraws, no cravings. You can pick it up, do it heavy and regular for years, and drop it in a heart beat. I've done so.
It's true there are those that can't. But those are the small minority that are destined to have problems no matter what they do. Doesn't apply to the overall population.
I speak from record; and personal experience.

Hemp has always been a great product. The hemp that is grown for textiles and industrial use doesn't have the thc content that make it a drug. This is Current so I'm sure 99% of the readers may be growing there own. It use to be one of our major crops. Hemp rope and clothing are extremely durable. It's an absolute bunch of crap to say that the THC is harmless. It's a psychotic and addicting. How many regular users that you know just quit out of the blue? Good weed has a heavy tar content that adheres to everything in your body it comes in contact with. And on and on. All drugs have negative effects. Who gives a crap. No need to lie. With that said, why is it the governments right to tell people they can or can not use it? Unless it causes serious damage and has extensive ill effects to others, there's no reason to make it illegal. In fact, the THC containing hemp is a commodity that can be taxed without much concern to the negative impact it's tax would have on the economy. Also it has been noted that the illegal trade in marijuana is a major source of financing to the Mexican drug cartels. I guess we wouldn't want to break their bank role.

McCainiac:
Mr. McCainiac and I just had a personal email conversation. I didn't find it pleasant. In fact, it pissed me off. I said so. I also challenged him to debate me here in public.
That challenge stands.
So, Mr McCainiac, put up or shut up. I await your response. Please feel free to post any and all comments from our personal correspondence. I will do the same.
Let's get this out in the open, shall we? Better on the table than under it, huh?
You want to challenge an advocate do you? I suggest you bring your lunch. It's liable at to be a long day.

To all concerned:
It's obvious to any and all that Mr. McCainiac and I have our differences. I've been pretty bold, and I don't apologize for that. It's how I feel.
At the same time I recognize that Mr. MCCainiac has his point as well. He's not wrong. What he says makes sense. I won't dispute it.
What we need, and what this nation needs, is a healing. We're not two peoples, we're one people. We need to cast aside those rules that divide us.
Mr. McCainiac, I offer my apology. What I want is for you to join us. Please
We're not a hard people. We seek only a just solution. Locking up our kids is wrong.. This war on Americans is wrong.
Please help us. I don't wish to fight with you.

I think one strong thing to note on this article is the fact that we are talking about hemp, and not so much pot, weed, marijuana, or any other slang term people gave to the bud you get high off of. Hemp as a commercially viable substance is one of the most amazing things I've heard of lately. Hemp has basically none psychitropic (spelling sorry) effects someone trying to get high, but the fibrous material it makes can be a cheaper and more efficient than most of the current methods we use today. It could revolutionize our failing agricultural efforts if we were to replace things like corn and cotton as our major cash crops. I encourage everyone to write or try and petition more logical legislation on our nations current hemp laws so that we can start making a drastic difference with something so simple.
Also, I'm interested in understanding how Chinese hemp is able to do such amazing things, like kill bacteria and shield ultraviolet rays so well... I'm not botanist or chemist so things like that are really mind baffling to me.

Abraham has asked, "who cares?"
Well..., I think you can take ALL the folks that care and put them in two groups. Those that are persecuted and discriminated against because they use it; and those that do the persecuting.
Both of these groups can be further classified. In the first you have those folks that zigged when they should have zagged and are now paying the heavy, heavy price for that. Then you have the folks that got off lucky and easy, and those that have yet be discovered. I'm an exception; having been a member of both groups. The 2nd group, which I'm proud to once again be a part of, are the vocal suckers that are DEMANDING explanations and redress.
The 2nd main category you can put in two main groups too, with one splinter. The first is the people that carry out the persecution and man the incarceration. They're only doing their job; although more and more are beginning to question just what the hell that is. The other are the politicians that have it within their power to change things and mainly don't. The splinter is those folks that believe what they're told, have no personal experience, and base their opposition to change on what their govt has fed them. I suspect the splinter is the larger of these groups.
So what do we have? A divided nation at a time when that's the LAST thing we need. Pissed away tax dollars that could find better use. Ignored potential tax revenues, which we could use. Prohibited cash crops that provide NUMEROUS green alternatives that address world problems. Outrageous expenditure to house criminals that aren't criminals. Uncounted medical patients that are being denied something that actually helps. Children that are losing respect for our government. A war by America ON Americans. Empowered drug cartels that have started a shooting war with Mexico.
It's a great deal. We should all sign up. Oh... excuse me, I forgot. We already did.

I do not use that and I do not intend to. However, I see no reason why those who do want it, should not have it.
Why is the government so much against this? They used to say that alcohol is illegal. Then they changed the law and I don't see any reason to go back and make it illegal again. The same should be true for hemp or pot or for marijuana. Basically, who cares? I don't. - 3 years ago

Looking at hemp and the pros and cons of its use, there is no rational reason to deny the use of this plant in ALL it's beneficial forms and applications....absolutely NO RATIONAL REASON.

God knew exactly what he was doing when he made this world and the things in it. The many uses of this one single plant is truly amazing. Only an evil person could see the facts and still try and make it look bad. Those "truth" ads are so fake they are paid for by the cigarette companies hmmmmm. Sounds like alot of other things in the U.S. we can be bought so easily instead of standing for the truth. sad. But GREAT post spread the knowledge :)

This is GREAT!!! So many purposes. We must be crazy not to legalize this. When weighing the pros and cons. There are certainly much more pros than cons that's for sure! The proof is there.
And, it does increase creativity. I know it makes me concentrate better, plus I cook like crazy, making some of the best food I've ever had.
I'd rather smoke a joint, then a cigarette, and the material for clothes is super soft, and amazingly softer each time you wash the garment.
There are many purposes for this special plant, and much more to be discovered. Tea. I love it. and my ma, she loves the smell so much, I found her cannabis scented incense and she loved it. The only problem she had was that her next door neighbors thought she was smoking it. Ha ha.. she's 84 years old, and never smoked in her life, but she looks great and I'm blessed that she's my mom.

Reefer Madness was made by Hollywood, yet our government has used the rhetoric contained in the film to enable the war on ordinary Americans, on American soil. That's just madness!
That our government would support 'madness', instead of 'victory' is an "Assault on Reason"! It's time to end the madness and move along to 'victory'. Hemp for industry!

Cannabis sativa from Vienna Dioscurides, 512 A.D.
China ruled the world for 5000 years with Hemp(all 3 kinds) technology before sharing it (not willingly) with the rest of US 5.5K years ago
Hemp use dates back to the Stone Age, with hemp fibre imprints found in pottery shards in China and Taiwan[41] over 10,000 years old. These ancient Asians also used the same fibres to make clothes, shoes, ropes, and an early form of paper.[41] Contrary to the traditional view that Cai Lun invented paper in around 105 AD, specimens of hemp paper were found in the Great Wall of China dating back 200 years earlier.[citation needed]
Hemp cloth was more common than linen until the mid 14th century.[citation needed] The use of hemp as a cloth was centered largely in the countryside, with higher quality textiles being available in the towns. Virtually every small town had access to a hemp field.[citation needed]
In late medieval Germany and Italy, hemp was employed in cooked dishes, as filing in pies and tortes, or boiled in a soup.

No, cannabis sativa is the marijuana specie that excercises the brain functions, gives one a 'head' high, contrary to Cannabis Indica, which gives one a stoned, couch lock feeling.
Hemp is Cannabis Ruteralis.
