A tied council election result in Cave Creek, Arizona meant the candidates - both locked on 660 votes - were facing a re-run or at least a re-count to decide the outcome.
But they're mavericks in Arizona, so instead it was decided the result would be settled by cutting a deck of cards.
And the winner, with no majority, no victory in the popular vote and most importantly no political mandate was 25-year-old Adam Trenk whose king of hearts trumped former counciller Thomas McGuire's six of hearts.
