Congressman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) introduced legislation today to remove criminal penalties for marijuana possession at the federal level. The Personal Use of Marijuana by Responsible Adults Act of 2009 would remove penalties for possession of up to 3.5 ounces of marijuana and the not-for-profit transfer of 1 ounce.

    • If Congress wants to improve their ratings, they should do something for the people. Cannabis crosses party lines. Changing the laws would change the discussion.

I'm sure the pharmaceutical companies and alcohol companies will be spending a lot of money to lobby against the change.

It is time for change in America. It's time to listen to the leaders of our past. I'm talking about leaders, who led before MSM controlled the spin.

"Two of my favorite things are sitting on my front porch smoking a pipe of sweet hemp, and playing my Hohner harmonica." - Abraham Lincoln (from a letter written by Lincoln during his presidency to the head of the Hohner Harmonica Company in Germany)

"Hemp is of first necessity to the wealth & protection of the country."
      - Thomas Jefferson, U.S. President

"Make the most you can of the Indian Hemp seed and sow it everywhere."
      - George Washington, U.S. President

"We shall, by and by, want a world of hemp more for our own consumption."
      - John Adams, U.S. President

    • Personally I doubt it will go anywhere. I get the impression it's a bill that is designed to look good for the home team rather than actually be voted for. We'll see though.
