That last comment has me thinking.
I always thought having guns in the community meant more crime.....I still think that I guess...........but this point about the government being able to do what it wants when there is gun control........................a brilliant point.
Israel has gun control in Gaza and they massacred the Palestinians in January
The Shah of Iran ran a tight regime.....SAVAK tortured and people were afraid to speak....they worried in case their neighbor knew what they were thinking.........the control was massive....YET Iran had a REVOLUTION in 1979.
Some will disagree......but it is fact that only when the IRA had vast quantities of the explosive SEMTEX ( and were willing to use it in mainland Britain) did Britain really seriously negotiate a peace treaty with Northern Ireland. The IRA had lots of guns....smuggled guns.....and SEMTEX.
On the other hand.........................nobody listened to the anti war marchers in Washington and elsewhere.........and there are lots of guns in America in ordinary hands.
Interesting thought.
What do you all think about that?

Kcharles stated: Why are'nt opposition groups fighting basij???
Iran has gun control laws that only put the Guns in the control of the Police. Army, and the Basij ! Any government that takes all Guns away from the People ultamatly has no fear of doing whatever is wants. What you are watching live on the web in Iran every day is Gun control at work! - 2 years ago

Evil of the world are under the Impression that Obama the leader of the free World and America Police of the Free World First tried to equate the two Party's in Iran in bassically the same Boat. People who love Freedom everywhere when mush brain Liberals tell you Oboma said just the right thing at the right time ask them why he Efectivilly cut the legg's out from under the Freedom Loving Green party in Iran by on June 18th on CNBC with John Harwood he stated this Nugget!... President Obama speeking... "Well, I think first of all, it's important to understand that although there is amazing ferment taking place in Iran, that the difference between Ahmadinejad and Mousavi in terms of their actual policies may not be as great as has been advertised. Either way, we were going to be dealing with an Iranian regime that has historically been hostile to the United States, that has caused some problems in the neighborhood and is pursuing nuclear weapons" This was the Green light for the party and the Religous Leaders in Iran to do as they
Pleased with the Protesters!!! Then the long Silence!!! Then the Well lets see how all this Plays out!!! This efecvially was the Go ahead for the Regime to hurry and Silence the Oppisition!!! Then the leaders of the Free World Germany, France, England among many other Country's Came out with Forcefull Strong remarks Condemming the Brutal tatic's of what Looks like a Unlected Regime. And Many other world Leaders were calling for Re Elections
....And Then came Neda who Oboma refered to twice in his long awaited Speech strongly Condemming the Regime for what had allready happend! It is time this guy we elected Stand Up and Be counted for being on the right wside of this Fight!...Time to call a Special session to The UN and unitedly do everything Humanly possable to undo the dammage of Equating the two Partys running for Iran's Future. http://www.usembassy.it/policy/ - 2 years ago

Update | 6:43 p.m. The Iranian-American Web site Tehran Bureau has published this translation of an account of life in Tehran these days it received in Farsi on Tuesday night:
[Translated] I access Facebook through Yahoo! Mexico. But everyone says that’s a trap set by authorities to identify us!!!!! [X] quarrels with me all the time. He keeps imploring me not to go on the internet. They even say the phones are monitored!!! I’m so frightened I changed my [online] name today.
I don’t know why. Other than vote for Mousavi I’ve never engaged in a political activity in my entire life. But this is no comfort because [X]’s poor colleague was shot in the eye with a rubber bullet while driving through Vanak Square. After two operations, he’s blind in one eye!!!!!!!!
They picked up someone else too. Two days after his disappearance they released him near Shahreh Rey with his eyes blindfolded and his mouth gagged.
Neither guy attended demonstrations! Plus, they say those who come to these protests are MKO members [terrorists]!!!!! Not to mention 100 other insults!
What had this poor woman Neda done that they wouldn’t allow any mosque to hold ceremonies for her — come on, wasn’t she Muslim?
Anyway, things here are REALLY bad here. We’re all scared to death. Something has to change. We can’t go living like this.

Cheers Cabinettags.
I'm soooo surprised that this is the first time you agree with me.....unless you are one of the chosen people.
Especially surprising, because in your profile (on here) you say: "My favorite thing is truth. Even when it hurts. Maybe especially when it hurts. Those tend to be the most important."
I'm all in favour of telling the truth and am a product of a famous school whose motto is: Glainne ár ngroí, agus neart ar néag" ....translates as " truth in our hearts, and strength in our wings(=limbs).
I am big into getting the TRUTH out there.
