Iowa has the right idea, they are moving to re-classify cannabis. That's the way to go. Cannabis is not equal to heroin and cocaine. It should not be in the same classification. Richard Nixon left office in shame, but left his shameful classification change behind.
It's time for politicians to stop using the war on cannabis and 'us' as a political tool. If they can't win on their own pitards, they should not be in politics. Un-just wars should not be political gain, they should be embarrassed for perpetuating an un-just war on American soil using distorted facts.
Politicians won't have an honest discussion about cannabis, cause there are not facts to support their position. Facts matter. The truth matters more! Cannabis should be re-classified.

I have been talking with lots of people about the possibility of creating an industrial hemp processing plant here in Oregon so that future hemp farmers have a place to sell their fiber. Right now it would have to trucked to Canada or Mexico for processing.

Yah! This is really exciting news for Oregon. They are going through some of the worst unemployment and economic slow downs in the country right now. Hopefully this will bring a boost to their GDP and also employ a lot of people out there. Hell I'd pay the double taxes to work in Oregon and live in Washington, if it will help get this project off the ground...

Yeah, I'm waiting on the heroic DEA to start kicking down farmer Bob's door. This needs to be done EVERYWHERE. We need to come out of a recession... hmmm... how about we start growing and exporting HEMP. One of natures most versatile resources. It's about time! I only hope that reason and logic will cause more states and eventually the feds to realize they've been doing it all wrong... but when has that ever happened?

Great!!! With 13 states supporting hemp production, we only need like 27 more to get the federal goverment to act accordingly.

Followed by a repeal of the prohibition on marijuana for personal consumption and enjoyment. To paraphrase Connie's quote of honest Abe: prohibition is an attempt to legislate against a man's appetite.
Doesn't work; and never will. People will continue to insist on being people no matter what the law says. It's about time that fact was recognized. It would help if our govt would stop with the propaganda. We're not about to become a nation of junkies because so many of us prefer cannabis over alcohol.

Finally they are listening to 'voices of reason', instead of the 'madness' created during the war on drugs, and the movie 'Reefer Madness'.
'Hemp For Victory'!!!!! 'Voices of Reason' from our past:
"Prohibition... goes beyond the bound of reason in that it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded" -Abraham Lincoln
"The prestige of government has undoubtedly been lowered considerably by the prohibition law. For nothing is more destructive of respect for the government and the law of the land than passing laws which cannot be enforced. It is an open secret that the dangerous increase of crime in this country is closely connected with this." - Albert Einstein quote on Hemp
"The illegality of cannabis is outrageous, an impediment to full utilization of a drug which helps produce the serenity and insight, sensitivity and fellowship so desperately needed in this increasingly mad and dangerous world." - Carl Sagan, renown scientist, astronomer, astrochemist, author and TV host
"Two of my favorite things are sitting on my front porch smoking a pipe of sweet hemp, and playing my Hohner harmonica." - Abraham Lincoln (from a letter written by Lincoln during his presidency to the head of the Hohner Harmonica Company in Germany)
"Hemp is of first necessity to the wealth & protection of the country."
- Thomas Jefferson, U.S. President"Make the most you can of the Indian Hemp seed and sow it everywhere."
- George Washington, U.S. President"We shall, by and by, want a world of hemp more for our own consumption."
- John Adams, U.S. President - 2 years ago

About that first quote, I'm not sure I totally agree. For instance, I'm very happy to be protected by the law that prohibits murder...
Prohibition isn't just about what you eat, drink, or smoke; prohibiting someone from stealing my things is just as much about prohibition as anti-alcohol laws, in my book... - 2 years ago

Stealing is and always should be a crime. I think you may be a bit misguided about prohibition. He was not talking about crimes, which do harm to others. Cannabis does not harm others. If I smoke cannabis in my own home, on my own time, with my own cannabis, I should not be a criminal. That's just crazy!
