    • As a person who doesn't have a lot of money to budget for food I have to be careful about what I eat to remain healthy. The Mediterranean diet is, according to this, really effective at not only helping to maintain a good weight but also good for lowering bad cholesterol and, just as important, raising good cholesterol. The vitamin D aspect of the Mediterranean diet is important to me because I definitely avoid the sun for health reasons (red hair and blue eyes mean I am at greater risk for skin cancer) and reasons of vanity..not wanting to have leathery skin. Also, the Mediterranean diet is a relatively affordable diet to follow as pasta, olive oil, beans, fish, fruits and vegetables are all affordable if you shop carefully. Ironically, fruits and vegetables can be the most expensive to afford even if you try to shop seasonally and sales. This article reinforced what I already believe and try to practice about a healthy diet, within in my budget. So, I liked reading it.
