You can thank Roe vs. Wade for this. When you have "the right to life" , liberty, denied to those who are yet unborn, one of our fundamental rights as guaranteed by the constitution, the unborn child is dehumanized- just look at the euphemisms PP uses- "Product of conception" "womb contents" "medical tissue" etc. etc. to describe the unborn child. Why the shock? This is a natural by product of our society's unjust laws. Science proves the humanity of the unborn child (just ask Dr. Bernard Nathanson, co-founder of NARAL) its a shame that so many "feminists" don't see it that way.

I understand a lot of people are furious over the actions of what the mother did guys but dont wish death upon people it's not nice and it's really bad karma for your self.
Although I don't agree with how she birth the child or her actions I don't want any harm upon her. Life's tough enough already.
BTW there is such a thing as unnoticeable pregnancies. It's not uncommon but it happens. Pregnancy symptoms ranges differently from woman to woman. Some don't even feel pregnant at all.

Apparently no one here has seen the show..."I didn't know I was pregnant." It is possible that she didn't know she was pregnant. Everyone wants to jump to conclusions about this womans motives. Why assume she was going to abandon the child? She came back for it, didn't she. When you are in labor you are not of sound mind. You are in unexplainable pain. Maybe she was a drug user and never new she was pregnant. It is possible. The choice of a porta potty was in and of itself a strange choice but again no one really knows the circumstance. It amazes me when the wholier-than-thows want to immediately stone someone for using poor judgement.

Some times people ignore that which they cannot face. You know, like if I ignore that huge lump in my breast then I don't have cancer. Once you see the doctor and he diagnoses you; you do have cancer and have to face it.
So the woman may have denied her 'condition' until it could be ignored no longer. AND some woman only have moderate bowel like cramping before the occasion. - 2 years ago

This is what's wrong with out high paced society. I bet this lady was texting while driving really fast to get to a business meeting, when all of a sudden, her water breaks. She could go to the hospital, but then she would miss her meeting. So she pulls over, has the baby in a port-o-potty, then gets back on her way. I blame video games. I bet she got this idea from GTA.

This is not fair. If an article gets an advantage from the censors here at current, then the article should also be taken out of the voting system. How is it fair to the People when one editor can pick and choose what is featured. The whole point of current is to have the People vote on what News is important, not what is selected, hand picked, and propped up by 1 person. NEVER, NEVER have we had an article placed on the main screen, nor featured, nor on TV, nor....anything......EVEN WHEN WE ARE IN 1ST PLACE! It just upsets me how much the people are lied to and controlled without their knowledge.

Now if only she had gone to Planned Parenthood, they could have yanked that little sucker out a few minutes before it was born, crushed its skull, and tossed it in the dumpster - for free!
But nooo... Now Jane Tax-payer is going to have to shoulder the burden, and all because some ignorant person failed to exercise her freedom of choice.

You know, you lost when you typed up this little gem:
"anked that little sucker out a few minutes before it was born, crushed its skull, and tossed it in the dumpster - for free!"That's a disgusting lack of knowledge of how it all actually works. Its a shame.. I almost had an iota of respect for what you said in the thread about the overturning of the gay sex ban in India thread.

You're kinda right they pull the head out and cause enough damage to the central nervous system to consider the still 3/4 inside mom baby technically dead. Deliver the disabled kid and harvest whatever they want from the still living child.

Go to the emergency room. Once you're pushing out the head they will deliver the baby without question.
Go to the Salvation Army.
" " a large church.
" " a small " .
Go to an ambulance service.
Go to an unwed mothers home.
" " your family.
The phone book has pages of social services.
I hope the poor kid can fight off the sludge it inhaled. What an intro to life. May God bless him/her. - 2 years ago

This is largely the fault of a nation that is wrapped tightly in cognitive dissonance.
The moment we cut the hypocrisy and stop judging folks because of purely subjective matters the moment this sort of bullshit stops happening.

i agree scorpio, but i still empathize a little for the mother. some people feel so trapped and are perhaps too ignorant to know a better way to do things. maybe she thought she would have to pay for the delivery if she had it done by a doctor. maybe she couldn't bare the thought of having an alive offspring in the world that she wasn't taking care of. she needs some kind of counsel for sure but i don't think she should spend too much time in prison.

I agree with you, trelk. I don't agree with what she did nor am I excusing it, but there has to be a reason she thought this would be okay. Maybe she thought she had no other options and this would be the best course of action. Of course it wasn't, but when you're at the end of your rope, you do strange things.
She should serve some time for negligence and child endangerment, as well as going through some counseling.

instead of feeling bad for this lady, what are we doing to stop this thing from happening again??? if proper sex education was taught at an early age instead of just abstinence, i'm sure this sort of ordeal would not be in the news nearly as often as is now.

a friend of mine commented that he didn't understand suicide. he was like, "if someone wants to kill themselves why don't they just leave the place they live and go to another country or state. start anew and your old concerns will be replaced by actually having to live in the moment."
i think this is a romantic idea but i believe that people are trapped with themselves. you can get another job, travel to timbuktu, or scuba dive the coral reefs of central america but in the end your ignorance, hangups and prejudices are still going to be there.
now i think the act this woman did is despicable. but something stronger than just pure evil pushed her to do it. she basically had a natural birth cave woman style in a f^cking portapotty. that, in my humble opinion, could have only been guided by extreme fear. last time i checked there were no epidurals hanging out by the toilet paper.
people are trapped with themselves and until you walk a mile in somebody's shoes, which indeed is impossible, calling for their execution is as ignorant and unfeeling as the act she committed.

Why do women do this?
There's safer and more sanitary ways of giving up newborns. You can drop it off in a hospital or in a police or fire station. No questions asked.
