Mordachai Vanunu is again denied the right of travel by Israel

The night before Vanunu's High Court appeal on July 6, 2009, I received a Face Book message from a friend of his whom I met on June 14, 2009 when I spent A Sunday with Vanunu:

Vanunu's friend wrote:

"This morning in church Mordachai said that he has a Supreme Court hearing on Monday and expects a decision on letting him leave Israel after 26 years. He said he hoped it would be his last Sunday with us in church at the English speaking Lutheran service."

I was elated for Vanunu and also relieved that I would no longer be reporting on his freedom of speech trial which began January 25, 2006. For the rest of the evening I prayed/imagined that Israel would see the wisdom of issuing Vanunu a passport stamped "No Return" and he would be on the first flight out to anywhere and have the opportunity to begin a normal life.

    • These are the people you're afraid of - The Israelis'? You're nuts. And very, very misled by pop politics. When all is said and done, there is no soul more beautiful than that of a Jew. It's in their DNA. Just ask Yeshua.

    • Educate yourself on the Jewish Holocaust. These are people who were merely living their daily lives like you and me and then one day the evil guys came and the rest is a total nightmare. The evil guys looked and lived just like our American grandparents. Many scholars agree that this is the most haunting aspect of the Holocaust - that it was carried out by what appeared to be regular, everyday people.

Which Scholars are those? Eisenhower had a number of flim crew in Poland and a number of other "death camps" - He clearly know of the future saying to the Amry Signal Corps. "Flim all you see here, one day the world will deny it ever happened" - I trust those words more then any of the "Scholars"

    • Check it out. Learning such information could save your life, your loved ones and even your country one day.

Col. Richard Kemp, Former Commander British Forces in Afghanistan, spoke at the conference, Hamas, the Gaza War, and Accountability under International Law. hosted by the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs. Col. Kemp reviewed the difficulties of any kind of warfare, but emphasized the challenges faced by Israel when fighting a terrorist organization that purposefully rejects and defies international law. http://www.jcpa.org

    • Great Mr./Ms. Humanitarian. You care about suffering people. Do you have a monolopy on compassion though? Seems like you think you do. It's lame to jump onto a political bandwagon. In 2000 it was cool to be into gay guys now it's cool to be into Palestinians.

IF AND ONLY IF people understand the Nazi rendered Holocaust and life for the Jewish people after WW2, can they reach vaild political conclusions on this matter.

If after digging deep into that subject, they come out of it unmoved and still ignorant, I can't help but wonder if they are inherently anti-Semitic human beings.

I can verify that the Israelis' are good people and have done a lot for the Palestinians. If you are an American that supports the troops in Iraq but also Anti-Israel, this is a contradiction. .

View the videos I posted on here b/c they debunk a lot of myths floating around out there in regards to the all the people involved that we are discussing.

      Excellent!

I feel the same feelings and I support what you said. Unfortunately, I have noticed that many people will love what their parents loved and they will also hate what their parents hated.

That applies to nationalities, religions, colors, traditions and the whole kit and caboodle.
Therefore, those who are brought up to hate, will hate, until they can mature and grow out of that hate.

However, if the family teaches its members to hate murder and adultery and rape and thievery, the children will most probably follow that approach to life.

Yes Abraham, I agree with you. Funny you should mention parents, b/c I am reading some material on early childhood development. I think much of the problem stems back to the childhood of these people and the relationship between mother and child. It is the most important one any of us ever have and defines all our relationships that follow in that it sets up a pattern (which we must learn how to break, if that pattern is dysfunctional/destructive). It's similar with the father too, but it doesn't have as much of an impact as the one with the mother.

My assumption is that the Muslim mother, not having much of a voice in the household, probably doesn't get the chance to give her baby/child what it needs from her. I also suspect that many of the mothers suffer from depression in silence. We all know the mother cannot give her little one very much, if her spirit is dying inside.

It's pretty much Psychology 101. But for some reason, Americans like to think of foreign people as Space Aliens in that what holds true for us as human beings here in America, doesn't hold true for all human beings. But when it comes to certain things like our psychological make-up, I think universal principles apply.

Just read your post from 3 days ago..Americans feel different towards others etc. Here's about the only way I can say it...AMERICANS are misunderstood and for good reason. We have double and triple standards for everything...The same people that applaud abortion and killing children are the first ones out there with signs saying "Stop bombing children"..We have people of faith that say "Life is Good and you need to protect it"...then that smae guy shows up at a planned parenthood with a gun...Americans' probably more then any other country I have been is have no boarders so to speak...In many countires - If killing is wrong - its wrong...But not if the women wants abortion well then that's "choice"..There are laws in States that say you have everyright to protect your property and family..until you kill the guy trying to rape your wife in YOUR house well, if Your white and he's white - That goes down as unnessary force..If your White and HE's Black and you kill him, well its' Murder and a Hate crime...You get my meaning..Its all Nuts

    • Oh HighRoller, here is a quote from your amazingly deep and intelligent writing. "they will attack IRAN next".
OMG! Really? You mean they would probably drop bombs all over Iran? Which cities in Iran?
Oh, you mean they would drop bombs on the eighteen nuclear facilities that were built to help the people get electricity so they could put on a lamp to read by. Terrible Zionists, right? How dare they try to stop Iran from putting on lamps to read by!

    • Oh Highr0ller!
Oh my! Those Zionists! They dare to think they should defend themselves! How do those Zionists get the nerve to fight back? Why don't those Zionists just sit down and let themselves be bombed like all Jews should do?
These are the same Zionists who bombed poor, sweet Iraq and destroyed its nuclear factory in 1983. That was terrible. The poor Iraqis just wanted to explode maybe only one or two nuclear bombs on Israel, that's all, and then everything would have been great. But no, not those Zionists. They had to attack poor innocent Iraq and destroy a very nice and modern H- bomb factory.
But, don't worry, Ahmadinejad is going to do the same thing. He said many times that he will drop nuclear bombs onTel Aviv and other Zionist strongholds. He is a good, religious Muslim.
Now Israel would never dare attack Amadinjad also! No, never. Those Zionists are so destructive; they murder people all over the world every day while the innocent, nice Palestinians sit quietly eating falafel and getting shot.
While the Zionists are murdering people all over the world, the Muslims are praying nicely in their mosques and reading the Hadith and the Koran.
Those Zionist keep killing people in so many countries every single day, while the unarmed, sleeping Muslims are doing nothing wrong. Oh, how much must we take from those Jews? Isn't it enough that they all killed Christ and then took over Texas? Oh the humanity!

    • Abraham99:

The Palestinians don't eat Falafel b/c it's too Jewish. They eat a lot of chicken that they bake on the street. I think both sides eat humus and pita though, so perhaps that is the "politically correct" housewarming gift the President brings with him during his Middle East vacations.

    • "Violence will only aggravate an already grave situation in the region." But violence will not be ended by empty condemnation of the victims and craven appeasement of the occupier. It will end when governments take action to make Israel, as the occupying colonial power, accountable

Israel is run by a bunch of terrorists.........

Look at the Geocide they committed in Lebanon,

Look at the Genocide they committed in Gaza this year.

The rest of the world tries to make peace with their neighbors but Israel wants to have continuous war (they will attack IRAN next).
Israel is stealing Palestinian land and Palestinian Gas.

And has his response gained any credibility in the World's eye's? No, he is considered to be another murderous Muslim. Their ignorance level of American value systems is flawed beyond belief. Martin Luther King graphically displayed the path to gain justice in America. Violence was not the answer, however, Muslims have no concept of non-violent resistance, thus let them kill and be killed in the name of a false God! Their hatred toward the Jews and Americans has blinded them, just as Satan has wanted, they are pawns in the hand of the devil, yet too proud and ignorant to acknowledge their own weakness.

    • "Yes we can!" Yet again the left reduces complex issues to tiny slogans, meaningless in every way, because they want to simplify these issues so they can "understand" them. The slogan should read: "Yes we CAN OVERSIMPLIFY THE ISSUES!" And they do.
This bit of propaganda totally obviates the FACT that Israel is facing a horde of terrorists funded, trained, and armed by larger states that border it, with the sole intention of destroying Israel and liquidating the Jews. It ignores the FACT that the sworn intent of Hamas is NOT to establish a Palestinian state, but to wipe Israel out, and to take over the area. And it conveniently ignores the FACT that Hamas runs Gaza, firing missiles from that area into Israel with the purpose of killing Israeli civilians. Hamas has refused to stop its attacks on civilians, no matter what concessions Israel has made.
Israel cannot survive without a powerful and ruthless military, and nuclear weapons are the ultimate deterrent against the cabal of anti-Semites whose core thesis echoes the Nazi preocupation with Jews and a final solution for them.
If the Palestinian "leadership" really wanted a two-state solution, they could have had it, EASILY, by now. Instead, they oppress, torture and kill even Palestinians who disagree with their tactics and philosphy.

    • Mr. Vanunu is the Israeli Jonathan Pollard.

In 1986 he gave the London Times 60 pictures of Israel's top nuclear bombs at that time, showing the actual bombs. Vanunu's data showed that Israel possessed over 200 bombs with boosted devices, neutron bombs, F-16 deliverable warheads, and Jericho warheads which in 1986, was a tremendous attack on his government. Those who cry bitter tears for him now, have shed not a tear for Jonathan Pollard even though the circumstances are eerily similar. Strangely, the year of pollard's imprisonment FOR LIFE, was also in 1986, yet the information he gave was worth about one thousandth of what Vanunu revealed. Vanunu snitched the secret information to every country. Pollard snitched his stolen information to one country, Israel.
Vanunu is walking around Israel now, and that is where mercy shows. Pollard has been walking around a prison cell for 23 years.
If any other country had a person who told the world that it had nuclear weapons and also provided details and pictures, the guy would be dead. Vanunu has been out for all those years that Pollard is in.
Try not to overdo and overact the the horrors of Vanunu's sad "plight."

    • If America lost it's way after 9/11, you can thank the murdering sons of Satan and their corrupt leadership for turning our moral compass. How stupid can people be, not to know the result of this unwarranted attack. These dogmatic idiots hoped to ignite a holy war against America. They fully well knew America's response after what happened at Pearl Harbor.
I am still waiting for an apology, until then I will stand against them at every opportunity. When the Jews attack America, I will stand against them, also. So far, they have shown an intelligence level far surpassing that of Radical Muslim Leadership. If 10 million Muslims die, I would not expect one sign of remorse for the path of destruction designed from their leaders. They are berefit of the capacity for forgiveness and blood is on their hands, not just the victims of 9/11, but of Iraqi civilians, soldiers, Afghanistan innocents and not so innocent, as well as thousands of Christians, Jews, and Hindus murdered in the name of Allah!
If all Muslims laid down their arms and rejected violence as a means of religious dominance or political gain, this World would have a chance at peace.

      3. He testified that I can speak freely to any Israeli citizens about anything; it is not his concern what I am saying to them. These Israelis can give this information to any foreigners. It was difficult for the Judge to understand why this dichotomy exits between foreigners and Israelis. It means that it is not about secrecy but about something else."

    • On July 2, 2007, Israel sentenced Vanunu to six months in jail for speaking to foreigners-who happened to be media- in 2004.
Vanunu began talking the day he emerged from 18 years in a tomb sized cell, on April 21, 2004. He was sentenced for treason, but all he did was tell the truth and provide the proof that Israel had already manufactured of upwards of 200 nuclear warheads by 1985.
Two days before President Bush's first trip to Israel, and a day before Vanunu's appeal was to begin, Israel sentenced him to community service. Israel does not recognize occupied East Jerusalem as part of their community, but it is the only neighborhood that Vanunu has lived since April 21, 2004.
Israel denied Vanunu the right to serve the sentence in his own community, but on September 23, 2008, the Jerusalem District Court announced:
"In light of (Vanunu's) ailing health and the absence of claims that his actions put the country's security in jeopardy, we believe his sentence should be reduced."
Reuters quoted his attorney, Michel Sfard, "Vanunu was convicted by the Jerusalem Magistrates Court of 15 violations of a military order prohibiting him from talking to foreign journalists and leaving Israel. The original indictment included 22 different violations of the order, but during the trial the State Prosecutor's Office submitted an amended indictment, and he was eventually charged with 19 violations and was acquitted of four. According to the indictment, Vanunu held conversations with foreign journalists and provided them with news and details on Israel's nuclear reactor. He was acquitted of speaking to foreign nationals on the internet and via video and voice chats…Since his release Vanunu has campaigned for the Jewish state to be disarmed while denying Israeli officials' charges that he has more secrets that he could divulge if allowed to emigrate. We should be clear here that Vanunu was convicted for the very act of speaking to non-Israelis, rather than the content of those conversations. We do not consider this appropriate for a democracy in the 21st century." [1]
