Submitted for your approval, meet Ms Audra Shay, an up and comer in the GOP and current Vice Chairman of the Young Republicans. Ms Shay aspires to be the actual Chairman and is endorsed by Gov. Bobby Jindal personally. As a member of the Republican youth Ms Shay realizes the party needs to be more in tuned with the information society and social networking in particular. She of course participates in all the popular social networks including Face Book.

Here's where things turn sideways for Ms Shay and her party. After the infamous White House watermelon patch picture followed by the blacked out presidential portrait featuring a set of eyeballs depicting our 44th President and that catchy spiritual "Barack the Magic Negro" the Republicans seem to have trouble shaking their racist label, for some odd reason. Ms Shay helped their cause by responding to a "friend" named Eric from Face Book that thinks "we" need to take back the country from the "coons and illegals", the exact quote is;

“Obama Bin Lauden [sic] is the new terrorist… Muslim is on there side [sic]… need to take this country back from all of these mad coons… and illegals.”

To which Ms Shay responded "You tell em Eric! lol.

Unfortunately for Ms Shay some of her other followers weren't as comfortable with Eric's enthusiasm and voiced there concerns. Ms Shay promptly DE-friended the dissenters. Keeping Eric as a buddy. As the concerns grew Ms Shay went into damage control and said she hadn't read the entire quote and was responding to something Eric had said previously even though she responded a full eight minutes after his racist remarks. The debate flared with Ms Shay attempting to dance on the head of a pin and Eric helping her with this parting remark;

“This is still America… freedom of speech and thought is still allowed… for now any ways… and the last time i checked I was a good ole southern boy… and if yur ass is black don’t let the sun set on it in a southern town…”

Good luck in your endeavor to become chairman of your fine upstanding Christian organization Ms Shay and political aspiration with the GOP.

    • There is no such thing as a race of humans only individuals and groups who's physical vessels have been shaped over eons by the physical world on this plain. Customs and habits are shaped by the most powerful and/or influential entities of ones family group. We are trapped here and doomed to repeatedly infect ourselves with our own virus of self-destruction , unless we once again embrace the spiritual.

    • I'm sure there are racist in both political parties but what's the deal - does everyone but the Republican have better publicists? How come there are SO many blatant and continuous examples of right-wing missteps and flat out bigotry? Today alone Freepers called the First Daughters "Ghetto Trash". Add that to the watermelon patch and blacked out portrait pictures, the Magic Negro song and Bill O'Reilly's amazement at blacks ability to eat with utensils and order ice tea without using profanity.

The major difference is the left tends to attack individuals while the right attacks entire cultures. Look at the rhetoric, find examples of the left attacking a culture. You'll probably be able to find a few if you try hard enough but contrast that to the vast examples of the right and you'll begin to see the point.

The likes of who you reported on do NOT represent the TRUE Republican but rather the Neocon side.

We The People do NOT have to resort to name calling nor do we see anybody in groups but rather as Individuals.

There are also people out there that wish to keep the people at each others throats. For if we worked together to restore this Great Country of ours many of these Neocons and Propagandists would be out of jobs.

    • I totally trust the rich old white guys on the left way more than the rich old white guys on the right. They told me they were my friends!

There are beliefs, and then there are facts. If you believe that the Democrats are any less racist than the Republicans, well... I sure hope that works out for you.

I'll be over here in the Libertarian camp where we actually believe in freedom and equality instead of just paying lip service. Hope you find time to stop by one day.

    • There are racists in ALL parties!!

As for this woman she does NOT represent true Conservatives. Looks like she is part of the Neocons that took over the GOP.

No fear because the TRUE Conservatives have made it our GOAL to Take Back the GOP from the Neocons.

We see everybody as an INDIVIDUAL and as such treat everybody the same.

    • Another example of Liberal STEREOTYPING.

You have a lady WHOSE online 'FRIEND' wrote something dispicable, and just because she didn't go on a rant then you label HER as a racist. AND THEN you go and use it "as an example" to "prove" that the GOP in general is racist?

It's a non sequitor logical fallacy. But it fits your propagandistic needs nicely.

      Let's try it another way:
RACISM RUNS RAMPANT IN THE DEMOCRAT PARTY: because Jesse Jackson and Rev Sharpton have said anti-semitic things, because Justice Sotomayor uses RACE rather than LAW to make judicial decisions--as seen in the Ricci case, etc etc

      It's a bunch of BULLSHIT.

    • Monte do you consider yourself a government dependent if the citys fire dept comes to put out the fire, or if you call the police if someone has broken into your home? If you have children and they go to a public school, if you drive on a road that you yourself did not pave? Do you take the interest deduction on your homes mortgage on your federal income taxes..because if you do, then your home is being subsidized by the govt.
Wake up and realize that when we work as a team we get much more accomplished than this idea of every man for himself.
I'm an atheist but i was raised Catholic and one of the things I recall from the bible was the words from Jesus himself.."the poor will always be among you"
I believe that how we treat the poor says much more about us as a nation than how much homage we pay to our rich and powerful. My point being that as a liberal I want assistance for the poor not to keep them as a voting block, but because it's the right thing to do.

In order to "all work together as a team," the team must be united in a common goal. The goal of the Democrats and Republicans is slavery and oppression. I will never be united in that goal. I will never be a part of that team. I will fight this despicable monoculture of polarized totalitarianism until the day I die.

Fire departments in my neck of the woods, by the way, have been proven to work remarkably well with a bare minimum of government "assistance." I have never seen any factual evidence to support this curious idea that the government actually improves anything it touches. In fact, all I have ever found is evidence that the more government is involved, the worse things become.

    • no, just "demonizing" anyone who doesn't agree politically and keeping minorities dependent on wellfare so they can be a permanent voter base.
And now wanting to turn the entire country into dependents on the federal govnment -- you've got far worse moral and philosophical problems than a few stupid remarks made by anyone in your party.

You can't have it both ways..on one hand right wingers call us peaceniks and pussys because we don't advocate killing everyone in the world who disagrees with us politically... or demonizing people within our own country who's color, sexual orientation or religion you don't like...policies the Nazi's embraced...and now you are trying to tag us as Nazi's? That's like calling us violent pacifists...the two terms cancel each other out...A few night courses in a local community college might be helpful to you...might, but probably not.

    • the repugs can spew their racial remarks because there many out here who support them and racism. If the numbers were few why then is Palin popular? Fox Noise never been censored?" Rush Limpdick have a radio show etc, etc. How many of us have a best friend who is black or Jewish? You know the one, who lives on the other side of town. As long as there is a market for hatred there will be welcome wagon for them ln the press and in politics. take a good look at the emails sent to you by friends. The other day I got one which stated Obama and ACLU want all crosses removed from graves in National Cemeteries. Its a lie but there are thousands receiving it and believing it. I sent proof to the sender it was a lie and dared him to send to everyone he sent the lie to. That will happen when I win the lottery. They spread their lies and after a time they become half truths till you forget it was a lie and start sending the email yourself.

The young people showed this country with Obama win that they want things to change and not tomorrow. They are the future and hope of this country and we must encourage them to keep the fight going. They know its not about race, religion or politicial party its about those who have and those who don't and those who need. The wealthest country in the world should not have poverty, children and vets living in the streets, inadequateducation, children going to bed hungry. This is not a race issue, this is happening to all. Stand up to these bigots and let them know their posters and slogans targetng people of color is not the issue and we wil not listen or read anymore. The issue is hunger, education, medical care and a decent place to call home. The polticians will not do it on their own, force them by kicking them out of office and continue kicking them out until they live up to their promises and use the money to improve lifesyles of the citizens here. these are not bonuses but issues we have to have settled now. Stand up to the bigots in the Repug party and let them know their lies are not wanted here.

Yeah thats a good way to look at it... not. How about the fact that there is a great deal of interracial marriage nowadays? Interracial marriage is especially prevalent in Northern states where racism may still be alive but at least it isnt as rampant and flagrant as the South. The only way to truly defeat racism is for people of all nationalities and religions to live together instead of in isolated communities. Its ignorance and intolerance that fuels racism.

True that, everyone does like their own better. But the mark, in my opinion, of a great society is not one that tries to pretend everyone is colorless, but that everyone is different and brings something different to the table. If we can accept and acknowledge color and understand that we're still all capable people... that would make my day!

Here we have a young woman who would like to one day head a national party and instead of standing up and calling the man out on his racist comments she agrees with him by saying "you tell em Eric! lol" I mean really? Is this the party that we want back in power in the U.S? As a young black male who is a citizen of the United States I would like to state my total shock and horror that events like this are still taking place in the early twenty first century. I hope that one day we move past such hurtful ways of thinking.

    • I'm going to disagree with a few folks here.

To be racist you must by design be conservative. You must accept a core set of values with absolutely no flexibility and stick with those values for as long as possible.

Now with that being said. If you think you are conservative and you aren't racist that is because you aren't a conservative.

Likewise if you think you are a liberal but are racist that is because you aren't a liberal.

THAT being said there is nothing positive about being on either side of the docket. Making decisions based on a set of prescribed rules is a foolish way to live your life.

Anyone who doesn't make decisions based on their own personal thoughts and understandings is an idiot. Period. This is the only thing I'm really staunch about and if you think about it it is hard to argue with. Since anything else is just being a drone (by definition).

What people seem to have difficulty understanding is that they are almost always moderate. Moderation is the most common form of life desire in the world. You may want a whole lot of something but you don't necessarily want a whole lot of everything. It all equals out into an average pool of decency.

The 4 corners of the ring, Democrat, Republican, Liberal, and Conservative are all very poor choices to make in life. Because by choosing them you set yourself up to have decisions made for you instead of by you.

A smart person, or really a person at all, should never align themselves to any of these options. They aren't even supposed to be life styles anyways they are supposed to be end result descriptors not unlike a thermometer.

The thermometer doesn't make it hot outside it just tells you when it is hot. Just like a person shouldn't act liberal because they identify as one but they may be described as one because of how they as a person decide to live. It'll likely be wrong and short sighted but worst case scenario that's the only time someone should be labeled as one of those four edges.

There is no personal power to be found in living your life by others beliefs.

    • Unbelievable, sickening to the core. I come from a mixed family and this is just horrible. I just wanted to state, I have met my fair share of racist republicans AND democrats, but this lady is seriously horrible. America is a land of immigrants and immigrants bring in their own demand into the economy. What is truly sad is how People can't understand that both parties are truly off course and our Nation and world are steering back towards the Dark Ages of monarchy and big government slavery. What we need is a lot less price distorting government and a lot more personal liberty and equilibrium competitive markets that protect against an interventionist foreign policy and that does not allow the bureaucrats to manipulate the currency base propping up malinvestment while also levitating money from the poor to the rich through corporate welfare! oh well....

Then there is a single example of racist behavior by a single person who is PROCLAIMED by a non Republican to be an "up an comer" in the Republican Party, and THIS qualifies the headline?

This is mud slinging, and a FAR cry from journalism. This is an assinine attack and not a news story backed by any facts. Sensationalism at best.

Those are all seperate occuarances of different republican misteps. No ALL racist are not Republican but there are many examples of Republcan seriously lacking racial sensitivity. Go back and read it again or better still reseach it a bit. You'll find FAR more than just one rude racist statement. But really, how many do you need for it to be not ok?

When did I EVER say this was ok? Also, it is not MY job to do research to back a claim made by someone else. Also, if you showed me 10,000 stories of Racist comments, and actions by Republicans it would still not justify a statement like "Racism runs RAMPANT in Republican Party." As there are at LEAST 55 MILLION registered Republican voters. Even 10,000 blatant racists would not be RAMPANT in the party....that's just silly at best, and a blatant attempt to blanket an entire party based on a small percentage. hmmm....this sounds like the same tactics Racists use to make blanket statements about black people because of crime statistics in predominantly black neighborhoods. There are JUST as many racist Democrats, if you think there are not, then you are an ignorant party hack who thinks Democrats care more about the people than Republicans.

I personally could give two shits about either party, I think they are both power hungry assholes who would love to see themselves as RULERS instead of REPRESENTATIVES. But I DO care about being as honest as possible in reporting something as some sort of news article. A news article reports facts, not opinions. If it is their Opinion, then state it as such, but do NOT make a claim as a fact that can not be supported with FACTS.

It is impossible to see that which you do not wish to see. As I said, ALL Republicans are not racist the title says there is racism running through the party. Perception is reality and if they want to lose the undeserved label they need to clean their house. They should start by rejecting racism wholeheartedly, not embrace it or justify it.

There are no doubt racist in all groups, political or otherwise. Oddly you don't see a lot of examples of anything but Republicans being so blatant about it.

During the campaign President Obama's events dwarfed all others yet how many times did you see racist remarks or signage target towards his opponents? Did you ever hear anyone shout "Kill McCain or Palin"? Was Hillary's heritage ever questioned? Sen. McCain was not born in the US - did anyone clamber to see his birth certificate? How many times have you seen Palin compared to Hitler?

There is a small splinter faction making the Conservative movement look very bad. They need to stand up and purge the cancer that invades their political body. Zero tolerance for any type of racism or bigotry is needed to repair the damage done.

Journalism aside, I simply illuminated the obvious. I didn't add or subtract so much as a punctuation to their very own words. It is what it is on face value. Their are those that will accept it and voice their opposition and there are those that will attempt to diagram, defend and justify it. What course of action you choose is up to you - simply ask yourself what you true motivations are.

The article's Title is "Running Rampant" whether intentional or not, this implies it is a widespread and pervasive phenomenon. Which is not supported by ANYTHING in this article. In fact the accusation against the woman is tentative at BEST.

You are making this a debate about the Republican Party, I am debating the veracity of your article. There is no love lost between me and the Republican Party, the accusations of Racism aside, I am opposed to almost all of their platform on ideological reasons. The FACT is, you are making assumptions not based on evidence. I question why that is the case. Are you a provacateur or simply a bomb thrower? You have YET to show evidence to substantiate the title of your article.

You think that because I saw no one shouting for the Death of McCain on CNN or NBC or FOX that means there were none doing it is assininely naieve. There is a person who responded on THIS very article who calls for such draconian things in regards to all things conservative. So, yes, it IS as pervasive in the Liberal movement. It is simply not reported.

You are making assumptions, or voicing your OPINION. But you are not making statements of fact. Show me the evidence! I am not opposed to agreeing with you when presented with evidence. I would not mind it in the least discrediting the Republican Party, but I will not stand by and let Bomb Throwing be trotted out as any sort of reporting of factual occurences. Lies are lies, no matter who spreads them. We need to be focused on Truth, and not end results no matter the cost.

The FACT is, based on THIS article, your headline and suppositions are NOT supported by the facts.

Why don't we stop alienating one another with this hyperbole and start to work together on the issues we have in common. And nearly EVERY person in this country has SOME issues in common. Instead, we let ourselves be fractured and fight amongst ourselves thinking OUR groups issues are preeminent.

Amen! Hammywill I can guarantee that we would never see eye-to-eye on most issues but I love your approach. I just wish more people would engage their brain and stop falling prey to poorly "researched" pieces and specious claims designed to do nothing more than appeal to already inflamed emotions. The only reason the clowns in both major parties have maintained their ill-earned status in this nation is because of willful intellectual laziness and many Americans' curious desire to feel constantly enraged over petty slights and non-existent controversies.

I become sad when I think about what we could accomplish if we would stop to work together and effectively tell the political jackasses in D.C. that we are no longer buying what they're selling.

Agreed, we should stop alienating one and other and try to find common ground. Along the way, however, racism and it's cohorts must be exposed by all means necessary and any means possible. This sort of thing will no longer be tolerated. Always willing to turn the other cheek as long as you understand that one is just as black as the other.

    • This is not about either one of the two party system this diverse country gets to pick their leader from..or at least think they do...I read where people were so much healthier...thousands of years ago...they had hardly any of the problems faced by the highly developed humans of today...worried about finances...taxes...new illnesses around every corner...it also said that their heads were much broader...no sinus problems...no teeth problems or diabetes beacuse they left the white powder alone...Sugar....so it seems that minds and heads are becoming narrow...so if this keeps happening then soon humans ears will touch...and there are many in this world...every party and walk of life that are so narrow minded that their ears should be touching now...and most are programming their children to hate the same things they hated because their programmers hated them...and so forth....so there is evolution...humans are just marching on the most part in the wrong direction...and giving Hell to all those few they meet trying to go in the right direction....Golden Ruler...Will

Thanks for your question. Here is a breakdown of life expectancies:

1000 years ago-A child born in 1000 AD, on average, had a life
      expectancy of 24 years.

100 years ago-A male child born in 1903 had a life expectancy of 49
years, while a female had a life expectancy of 51 years.

For the following, the definition of life expectancy is the period
life expectancy at a given age for a given year represents the average
number of years of life remaining if a group of persons at that age
were to experience the mortality rates for that year over the course
      of their remaining life.
A thousand years ago was not better that was much much worse

...Eleganza...I was basically talking about research done on the skeletons of Hunter gatherers from around 20 thousand years ago...there is a great doctor in Wimberley Texas named Lane Sebring that has done extensive research on humans before the onslaught of agriculture and trying to forget they are animals..people seem to be living longer...or does it just seem longer...Sebring has devoted his life work to try and get people to eat properly...much like those humans did thousands of years ago...before we had all these luxuries that are making us live longer and barely resemble the animals we should be...it is not how long you live that matters...it is how you feel why you are alive...thanks.....Will

    • If you removed the "southern strategy" plank from the GOP there would be virtually no GOP left. it's an undercurrent that moves the entire base...euphemisms such as 'states rights", school vouchers, etc are thinly veiled desires for a return to the days of segregated schools, discrimination in the workplace and all the other miserable humiliations that used to be accepted...they are just having a difficult time realizing that their day is over and it's a change that cannot be reversed.

    • Rascism is a part of conservatism. It's what they do, and it's what they are. Rascism in one form or another is a central, yet often unspoken, plank in the platform of the GOP. It won't stop until the entire, bloated, face of the party is ground into the dirt. It appears that is precisely what is happening to America's newest regional party of the South. Have you ever seen someone grind their own face into the dirt? It's fun!

Who champions race based quotos? The democrats. Who champions denial of personal responsibility. The democrats. Who champions affirmative action? The democrats. Who champions paternalism? the democrats. Who believes Black Americans can't survive on their own without some kind of government program? Who keeps them dependent by telling them welfare is a right? Look at the democratic party and how they fought tooth and nail against Civil Rights! I guess that is why MLK, Jr. was a Republican. www.nbra.info

Your willingness to lie, distort and spin creates so much misinformation I am saddened you claim to believe it, and it is by far, a waste of time to untangle any truth from it.

I'm not saying I agree with unclecharlie, but don't think for ONE DAMN SECOND that liberals or democrats are free from the ties of racism.

You seem so quick to judge that all Conservatives are are racist and that it is a foundation of Conservatism?
Where could you possibly have learned that?

While I cannot speak for the GOP, don't ever go so far as to say that all Conservatives are the same and that we think alike, Just as I can never say that all liberals are the same.

Whether you like it or not, there are going to be
racists in every group or party you can possibly imagine.

I think his evidence might be that the views required to be a racist are conservative views.

Doesn't mean you can't label yourself as Liberal and be a racist. It just means you are a liar or naively ignorant.

Likewise if you think you are a conservative but don't understand racism you are probably moderate and just poorly labeling yourself.
