Here's where things turn sideways for Ms Shay and her party. After the infamous White House watermelon patch picture followed by the blacked out presidential portrait featuring a set of eyeballs depicting our 44th President and that catchy spiritual "Barack the Magic Negro" the Republicans seem to have trouble shaking their racist label, for some odd reason. Ms Shay helped their cause by responding to a "friend" named Eric from Face Book that thinks "we" need to take back the country from the "coons and illegals", the exact quote is;
“Obama Bin Lauden [sic] is the new terrorist… Muslim is on there side [sic]… need to take this country back from all of these mad coons… and illegals.”
To which Ms Shay responded "You tell em Eric! lol.
Unfortunately for Ms Shay some of her other followers weren't as comfortable with Eric's enthusiasm and voiced there concerns. Ms Shay promptly DE-friended the dissenters. Keeping Eric as a buddy. As the concerns grew Ms Shay went into damage control and said she hadn't read the entire quote and was responding to something Eric had said previously even though she responded a full eight minutes after his racist remarks. The debate flared with Ms Shay attempting to dance on the head of a pin and Eric helping her with this parting remark;
“This is still America… freedom of speech and thought is still allowed… for now any ways… and the last time i checked I was a good ole southern boy… and if yur ass is black don’t let the sun set on it in a southern town…”
Good luck in your endeavor to become chairman of your fine upstanding Christian organization Ms Shay and political aspiration with the GOP.

They're racist because they don't agree with Barack Obama, how orginal. Gee, I never heard that one before. Do Obama groupies ever get tired of playing the race card? How long can a society based on screaming "I'm a victim" actually last anyway?

And calling someone a "coon" isn't doesn't qualify as playing the race card? This story doesn't have anything to do with Obama. When the high ranking officials of a national political party are using racial slurs against you, you ARE a victim.

Disagreement is just fine, in fact it's welcome but where do you find it necessary to throw in the words "coon" and "illegals " while promoting anarchy and treason?

uh no, they are racist because they call people coons, negros and make threats about not letting the sun set on them in a southern town. Did you even read the article? Really you do more harm to your cause making ignorant statements

This JohnA guy HAS to be a troll. How ignorant would a person have to be to not realize that "coon" is a racial slur? I mean, if you REALLY don't see how this article illustrates a blatantly obvious example of racism (not IMPLIED, but OBVIOUS), then you have bigger issues to worry about than politics...

I call my white friends coons. Does that make me racist? My black friends call me a white asshole. Does that make them racist? No, it's just a joke. I'm not saying what these people said is OK, but just give it a rest, your feelings aren't protected by the Constitution.
Oh and "illegals" isn't a racial slur.

Neocongo is a fool, been following him since election year, he knows nothing about economics, the pillar of what draws people to the GOP in the first place! I made him a connection to kill all the threads that he starts and did it well. Also that title is blatant mud slinging, and theres no NAAWP, lols ( to invoke a lable ) momma always said "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words may never hurt me." I would love some white only college money....

Black Natives were here,even before slaves were brought here from Africa.They (we) were called the Washitaw or to some, (Wichita) Tribe.We were dark brown with very dark rings around our eyes. The early settlers always referred to us as the "Raccoon people, hence brought forth the name "coons". All of my relatives have those same dark rings around our eyes. The United Nations still recognizes the Washitaw tribe as the oldest indigenous people in North America, 35,000 years, to be exact.They came over from Morocco tens of thousands of years ago.Morocco is where the United States of America got it's charter from. They were a skilled an education people that taught a lot to settlers. George Washington took on their ways, but because he was not Black, he had to be called Washington, not Washitaw. To these day, how many White people in this country with the last name "Washington"? NONE I BET. Not one. This nation's capitol got it's name from the Washitaw tribe. ...Hail to the Redskins....
Over the years,"coon" has become a filthy derogatory slang imposed upon Black people, as in "coon hunting".
Please stop trying to justify ignorance through your callousness.Shame on you.You know better, but you just don't care.
You do not have the right to tell other people what should or should not be offensive to their race, creed or culture.
Thinking that you do know what's best for others is called racism.
BTW, I consider myself a Republican, but not for political reasons. I belong to the Republic,(for which it stands).

Wow is right. We all know democrats could never be so racist. Who opposed Civil Rights in the 60's? All democrats- as Thomas Sowell has said, the whole ethos of the Jim Crow era was perpetuated by the democrats. Byrd was a member of the Klan. Bull Connor? Loyal democrat. Martin Luther King himself was a Republican. Ever notice the racist caricatures that editorial cartoonists use when drawing Condaleeza rice, Clarence Thomas, etc.? All these cartoonists are loyal leftists. Nothing is more despised by the Left than conservative Black Americans. The racism comes out of the closet, and the Left reveals their true, paternalistic feelings. Ugh.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that the party named "democratic" was always free of racism or that the party named republican was always full of it. This does not, however, mean that there are no problems as of today within the republican party regarding racism.

Yikes! I'm glad you aren't a lawmaker. By your logic, this person's level of racism can only be determined by first looking at the history of her political party? How backwards! Try removing the political party from the equation, and THEN ask yourself if there was racism involved here.

Avenue - The point is that racism in political parties is nothing new. SOME democrats read stories like this and thusly assume that ALL republicans are racist assholes. We aren't. Just like SOME republicans read stories about democrats and conclude that they are ALL idealistic hippies. They aren't.
Nobody is saying racism is OK, we just aren't pretending like it's a trait that's unique to certain members of the GOP.
