Prof. Seralini's group from CRIIGEN in the University of Caen, in collaboration with Pr. Chagnon's group from the University of Dijon, have just published a new discovery, after having demonstrated Roundup toxicity at infinitesimal doses in particular in umbilical cord cells from newborns. At very low levels, for instance 800 times less than Roundup residues authorized in some GMOs for feed in United States, this kind of herbicide for a formulation sold in drugstores prevents the action of androgens, the masculinizing hormones. Then the action and formation of estrogens are also disrupted. The DNA damages in human cells begin around this level. These effects explain disturbing results of animal experiments and in human epidemiology. It is thus proposed to examine in regulatory instances the classification of Roundup and other glyphosate-based herbicides as reprotoxics and endocrine disruptors. These phenomena have been underestimated up to now because pesticides factories pre sent in majority to authorities studies with glyphosate alone, however the commercialized mixture is a lot more active. The study is published by the end of June 2009 in the international scientific journal Toxicology by Gasnier et al.
Q: We use Roundup for weeds on our commercial property. You have written before that it isn't good for you. Is this just opinion or is there evidence to support your statements?
- G.H., San Jose
A: In the July 22 issue of Environmental Health News, a publication of Environmental Health Services, a foundation-funded organization, Crystal Gammon wrote: "Used in yards, farms and parks throughout the world, Roundup has long been a top-selling weed killer. But now researchers have found that one of Roundup's inert ingredients can kill human cells, particularly embryonic, placental and umbilical cord cells."
A study from the University of Caen in France, published in January, says that scientists discovered that the inert ingredients in Roundup amplified the toxic effect on human cells, even at concentrations much more diluted than those used on farms and lawns. The inert ingredient they have focused on is POEA (polyethoxylated tallowamine), an inert detergent in Roundup. They found that POEA is far more dangerous than herbicide itself. It said, "The proprietary mixtures available on the market could cause cell damage and even death (at the) residual levels found on Roundup-treated crops, such as soybeans, alfalfa and corn, or lawns and gardens."
In Gammon's article, Monsanto, the company that makes Roundup, claims the recent study is flawed, but Gilles-Eric Seralini, the molecular biologist who headed the French study, says standard toxicological methods were used.
It's my opinion that Roundup should not be used in any public area. If someone wants to use this stuff on his private property, that is his business, but it should not be used on school grounds, public parks or anywhere else people can unknowingly come in contact with it.

Round up is Monsanto's crown jewel. If we can effect consumption of this product we can continue to make Monsanto's stock price slide. Lets just hope that Obama's appointment of a Monsanto executive to head the FDA doesn't allow too much pro Monsanto legislation to be passed. DDT is good for....well its not really good for anyone.

It's amazing how apt we are to use poisons to extend our conveniences! But then we cry when we get cancer, autism, tumors, infertility, deformities, et cetera.
So,... toxins seep into the land, enter the food chain and effect our environs in the most grotesque ways. But at least our lawns are immaculate, the pests are gone, our houses are clean, our food tastes artificially great and our lives are that much easier. - 3 years ago

So, does that mean that RoundUp can inhibit male gential size? A very effective billboard I saw once showed what looked like the Marlboro man with a flaccid cigarette in his mouth.

This is no joke. When the vendors first started making their rounds to the colleges, the salesman would drink a shot-glass of Round-Up as a demonstration of how safe it was.

I think its being born a male, to a large family--out of the brothers, the younger the brother the more chance they have to be gay.
It's because the mother's immune system reacts to the foreign male androgens in the male fetus, producing antibodies. The more male pregnancies she has, the more antibodies she makes. The antibodies "kill" the androgenic hormones in the male fetuses, so the more antibodies, the more androgenic hormones in the male fetus are "killed."
That's what the research says.

Dr. Death sprays again - Roundup Concentrate Weed and Grass Killer: Roundup Concentrate
How to use RoundUp safely:
Always wear rubber gloves when using garden chemicals. A mask is also recommended. Even a bandanna over your nose and mouth is better than nothing. Read the label carefully before using. Spray on a sunny day in the morning when the air is still to prevent the spray from drifting where you don't want it. Rather than sweeping a large area indiscriminantly, try to aim the spray just where you want it. This lessens the impact on the soil community. To really get precise with the stuff, you can 1) use a sponge to wipe it directly on the leaves of the plants, 2) cut the bottom off of a soda bottle and use it as a shield -- put the open bottom over the plant to be sprayed, and aim the spray through the mouth of the bottle, or 3) buy the foam-type spray, which doesn't drift and stays where you spray it. After spraying, wait two weeks for results. If the plants aren't yellowing by then, spray once more.
That'll do it.
good-luck!

What's scary about this is Roundup is used on almost all the produce we get from super markets. GMO foods that are now "Roundup Ready" are designed to survive the use of Roundup and are therefore sprayed with it, not to mention all the problems related to Genetically altered foods.

PLEASE do not use this if you are pregnant. Also, please do not have your children playing in your yard if you spray this, and don't spray it in public areas. Do research and be careful regarding the amount you spray if you use Round Up. I would also suggest that as a precaution for any chemical pesticide. Of course, the best course of action is to not use it at all. These companies want your rmoney, they don't care about your health.
