In the twenty-first century, we continue to consider corporations as role models and saviors but engage other people as competitors to be beaten or resources to be exploited. The author bemoans extreme networking (called buzz marketing), which makes our personal, social interactions become promotional opportunities and the lines between fiction and reality and friends and market become blurred. Our lives are overextended, and there is no time, energy, or commitment to do anything but work and perhaps consider family. Rushkoff recommends that we fight back by “de-corporatizing” ourselves. His suggestions include thinking locally by participating directly with our neighbors in community activities and using various Internet sites that provide opportunities to contribute directly to a particular school or to extend a “micro loan” to a specific entrepreneur in the Third World.

    • I don't have any exact stratistics on the amount of people Stalin murdered through communism and his hatred of those who disliked communism, but it is at least 20 million people, and many websites use the figures of 40 million, and one source said, 80 million.
You can look it up yourself if you like, I do not want a system that already failed many times and took many millions of lives along with it.
This new smile and new idea and new view does not change Mr. Obama's deep desire for world religion and world government.

    • Smiling recipe for disaster and destruction of capitalism...

      A. Take a container of Karl Marx
      B. Add two cups of Friedrich Engels
      C. Mix in one cup of Georg Wilhelm Hegel
      D. Beat in three doses of Vladimir Lenin

(Tip: Make sure to forget that these huge, revolutionary ideas only lasted in Russia for 68 years before it disolved the Communist Party, and destroyed the country of Russia until it lost two thirds of its size, and only lasted for a few years in various other copycat Europen slavic nations until they too destroyed their brands of communism.)

      E. Mix all of the above together and get someone with a big smile to repeat the mistakes of the past while presenting them as a wonderful, original, brilliant new idea.
Teach him never to give even a clue that he is a weak Stalin wannabe. Introduce it all to young generations who don't even have a clue of how many tens of millions were murdered by Stalin in his rush to destroy corporations and industries.

Oh, and never ever call it "communism" instead, call it "life."

Poof, you have Douglas Rushkoff, brand new, amazing pioneer thinker on the scene, with totally new insights which were all invented 100 years ago.

    • nice post asherp...and another excellent example of what he is talking about can be observed in the way this post has been buried under Current's self promotion today.
