Way back in May we posted a callout for top secret testers to play around with some curation tools we built in preparation for launching groups. We received a pretty positive response to the test and now the time has come to unleash our new groups functionality for the rest of the Current.com community to enjoy.
Starting now, every single member of our community will be able to create and customize a group on Current.com tailored to their own specific interests. This is a monumental change to the site, and there is a lot to cover. Please visit Mario's post to see all the full details. It will tell you all about creating groups, joining groups and contributing to groups:

We hope that you'll enjoy these brand new features to current and we look forward to seeing the groups you make and contribute to.

it is about time. but, are special interest groups really the way to go? seems as though it might have potential to separate a few from many. bear in mind that no one is not necessarily any more important than another. there are a lot of good people with good intentions however, will their special interests get in the way of their understanding of one another. we've all seen how successful special interests groups are with congress and look where it has gotten us. don't lose sight of the fact that each is as important as the one before it. everything is relative.

This is a game changer. YouTube twitter and facebook all in one. I made a few generic groups about stuff I like. Be careful making groups is addicting, I haven't slept since the launch. Goodnight. @probloggers and @spinnyglen

Just as well because I've just created the "Superhero Central" group Thursday, focusing on the very subject: Superheroes. (http://current.com/groups/superhero-central/)
