This is another example of common knowledge that is wrong. I have heard many use this as an excuse for big government to intervene to save humanity from mass starvation, famine, plagues, cannibalism, basically the end of the world. The problem with overpopulation is that scientifically speaking the data points in the exact opposite direction. Population growth is decreasing every year and by the year 2040 the worlds population will be stagnant.
