Hundreds of teenagers are having their DNA taken by police in case they commit crimes later in life, an officer has disclosed.

Officers are targeting children as young as 10 with the aim of placing their DNA profiles on the national database to improve their chances of solving crimes, it is claimed.

The alleged practice is also described as part of a "long-term crime prevention strategy" to dissuade youths from committing offences in the future.

Civil liberty campaigners have condemned the tactic of as "diabolical" and said it showed contempt for children's freedom.

    • Mr.Obama will not like to collect DNA from everyone, because then the world will be able to track down the terrorists and that might lead the world to knock very loudly at Saudi Arabia's door. Mr. Obama does not want that to happen.
He has already assured King Abdullah that America will buy plenty of oil from him. Just to make sure, Mr. Obama said that he does not want us to drill for oil, even on our own land, and even though 74% of Americans want us to drill for oil here.
I guess you have to pay people back after they send you enough money to get elected.

    • Outrageous!

"When they took the fourth amendment, I was silent because I don't deal drugs. When they took the sixth amendment, I kept quiet because I know I'm innocent. When they took the second amendment, I said nothing because I don't own a gun. Now they've come for the first amendment, and I can't say anything at all."-Tim Freeman

It appears we can't say anything at all! I refuse to live as a caged chicken for the purpose to lay eggs...

    • I like the idea that DNA is collected. It should be collected from every person on the planet no matter what the age is. Our safety and security and health are more important to me than a false, melodramatic cry about loss of freedom.

    • Actually, DNA testing can not provide totally accurate identification all the time. Chimera's are a newly un-covered phenomenon where one person has two distinctly different DNA in different organs of their body.

    • Might be out there on this one but,
If your DNA shows tendencies of you committing a heinous crime later in life it would seem like a Brilliant idea to get some kind of DNA or something to help policia to prove it is you.. Idk

    • Bullshit. Everyone's DNA should be put on record when they are born. We do it for fingerprints, we should do it for DNA. Makes life easier. Criminals would be more easily identifiable, missing persons also. Not to mention having a giant database with everybodys DNA in it would have some applications for scientific research. Try to think bigger picture here instead of everything being an attack on your personal freedoms.
