Geneva, July 21, (Pal Telegraph) - The Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People will convene a United Nations International Meeting on the Question of Palestine on July 22 and 23 2009 at the United Nations Office at Geneva.

The theme of the Meeting is 'Responsibility of the international community to uphold international humanitarian law to ensure the protection of civilians in the Occupied Palestinian Territory in the wake of the war in Gaza'.

The objective of the Meeting is to discuss questions related to Israeli violations of international humanitarian law during the recent hostilities in the Gaza Strip and determine how the international community can uphold norms of international humanitarian law and fulfill its obligations with regard to ensuring protection of civilians.

Participants will look at the responsibility of Governments and intergovernmental organizations to respect and ensure respect for international humanitarian law, the principle of universal jurisdiction, as well as the options for individual and collective action by Governments. The role of the United Nations, parliaments, civil society, academic and other institutions, and the media in promoting awareness and respect for and upholding international humanitarian law and human rights law will also be examined.

    • It makes me very uncomfortable, as a supporter of Palestine and Palestinians, that you, mall hater, are in any way a defacto supporter of Palestine simply because you are an anti-semite.
