"Al Qaeda's favorite days: 9/11/01 and 11/04/08."
"Work Harder. Obama needs the money."
The bumper stickers and posters sold at "Free Market Warrior" at Concord Mills are meant to be "biting," the kiosk's owner Loren Spivack said.
At least one passerby found them racist and bigoted, and took time to tell the mall in a letter and a letter to the editor of the Charlotte Observer.
Spivack says the company first contacted him about his lease after a letter to the editor appeared in the Charlotte Observer. The author, recent UNC-Charlotte graduate Jennifer Ibanez, wrote"
"Free Market Warrior, a kiosk located adjacent to Bass Pro Shops, specializes in memorabilia embellished with pro-confederacy statements as well as those opposing both the government and President Obama. In addition, these products support ideas such as racisms, sexism, and even slavery. While freedom of speech is a Constitutional right it's difficult not to believe that something just isn't quite right here.
"I find it appalling that Concord Mills, North Carolina’s #1 visitor attraction, would condone such a message to be portrayed by their vendors and can't imagine how the outside visitors' perceptions of North Carolinians have been skewed by such an establishment.
"It’s hard to stay open-minded when such uncivilized and outdated ideas are endorsed on a daily basis. It's 2009; please, let's at least try to put this type of bigotry to an end."
Ibanez told NewsChannel 36 she was so offended, she wrote the mall as well. She says a friend of hers also wrote in. Both threatened not to return to Concord Mills.
The owner of the mall group, Mel Simon, has been a generous contributor to Democratic causes and politicians, including Barack Obama. Spivack thinks the decision about his lease is political.
"If they have decided to make their malls conservative/libertarian free zones, where those opinions can't be expressed, I do think it's their right to do that, but it's our rights to publicize the fact that they are doing that," he said.
"What I think the mall should have done if they thought that we were expressing one set of ideas and not another, is that they should have gotten another store to come in and sell their ideas," he said. "I would've been all in favor of that. I would have helped them move in."

I still believe its way too early for conservatives to be pulling the "he lied" crap. The man has been in office for half a year, and has 3 and a half more to go.
He's got plenty of time to tackle issues talked about on the campaign trail, he just can't take them on all at once.

Weren't these the people complaining that liberals were anti-american for criticizing the President's unconstitutional abuses of power? -- That we were unpatriotic and should shut up and support the president?
I guess that only works when YOUR guy is in office.
I don't support Obama, but Christ sake, he's only been in office 6 months. His administration hasn't even DONE anything yet-- aside from continue with the previous administration's policies. Which you'd think these moonbats would be in support of...

i go to concord mills often and i passed by the booth. i will admit my views are slightly to the right but i see nothing wrong with a particular group demonstrating their ideas with a kiosk like this. the kiosk was not violating anyone else's rights. as for the owner of the mall, he has the ability to deny a space for any person or group in his mall.

Greg Todd - Every politician makes promises while they are campaigning that they may not be able to fulfill either partly or completely after getting into office. One reason is that once in office they are privy to information they didn't have as a candidate and a situation may be more complicated or more dire than they thought it to be. This is especially true of a President. Another reason is in the heat and excitement of the campaign it is tempting to exaggerate and over state one;s abilitys in order to get votes. And finally, once he gets into office he has to deal with the resistance and in Obama's case the savagery of the opposing party. Obama is working hard to fulfill what promises he can and it will take time. By calling for his downfall as you and people like Rush Limbaugh are doing you are injecting an eliminate of extremism into what other's want to be a rational and decent national debate. Your type of behavior is part of what's wrong in our country today. Though you think you are, you are not being a patriot.

It was all said and done to Bush a hundred times worse. Payback is a Bitch.
However, I'm sick and tired that because Obama is half black it is now all of the sudden considered racism.
Don't insult those who have actually experienced racism by calling the very same slogans used on Bush all of the sudden racist because the current President happens to be half black.
To criticize Barack these days you need to expressly state that you are only criticizing the fifty percent of him that is white!
A sad fact in our society today.

It was almost all legitimate against Bush though. I don't know if you realize it or not, but Bush is a criminal responsible for WAR CRIMES.
Obama hasn't even been in office long enough to DO anything-- aside from continue Bush's policies-- which you paleo-conservatives ought to be waving your bone clubs in the air and cheering over.
Or is it not related to policy at all?
Do you hate him because he's black?
Or because he's a Democrat?Either reason would indicate massive levels of stupidity.
Look at what the policies are. You'll find he isn't that much different than Bush so far. If you loved Bush, you should love Obama too.

Ugh, these bumper sticks represent everything that disgusts me about the contemporary conservative mentality.
Of course, many of these people aren't even actually ideologically "conservative". My dad considered himself a lifelong Democrat until, for "some reason", he postulated that Obama is probably the Antichrist.
*sigh*
I can't stomach these people. You can go on about "free speech" all you want, but I wouldn't mind if everyone who participated in the designing of these obnoxious bumper stickers was damned to burn in hellfire for all of eternity.

So anything to do with the former Confederate Government is racist? If that is the case we need to remove the Declaration of Independence from public view. After all it was written by a man who also wrote the blacks were inferior and smelled bad. A man who also never freed his slaves when others in Virgina were doing just that. Last I checked it was a noble thing to sell pictures of this man.

Last time I checked, the Declaration of Independence was written in the 1700's, and the Confederacy was created in the 1800's.
In addition, Thomas Jefferson apparently did not think that black people weren't that offensive to the nasal cavities since he apparently had sex with one and allegedly had several illegitimate children who were mixed race.
Perhaps you should do some better historical research?

Some are funny but some are outright tasteless. However, if there is a market and the person is willing to pay to let, then I don't see the problem.
However, I could understand the malls concern, especially in 'ghetto' areas, where they get these houligans that are likely to cause a ruckus over the kiosk. In that case, for the safety of the vendor, I agree with the mall. Lesson learned, AVOID THE GHETTO.

Though I believe that he has his freedom of speech and should be allowed to exercise that, he is on private property so he should abide by the person's rules and regulations.
I'm not sure if anybody remembers an article a long time ago on Current about a giant cross in someone's yard (or something similar). That person is allow to have a giant cross (and if I was correct it was also following the housing association regulations of measurements) because it is on their own private property. Even though it's obnoxious in my personal opinion.
The guy shouldn't be complaining. He can do that on his own private property.

When Dubya was president, the people who called for impeachment had many legitimate reasons.
I would have liked to see Bush impeached and I still would like to see him and other members of his administration brought to justice.
Now this is a new thing I've seen, the bumper stickers and whatnot calling for impeachment of Obama. I haven't seen it before today. I think its ridiculous; it can't hold water without an actual reason. If you want to impeach Obama, what is the charge? Don't answer that, it is a rhetorical question because we all know there hasn't been any crimes committed. You might not agree with the Obama Administration and what they say and do. You might not like the color of his skin or the way he was named, but that's not cause for impeachment.
And for the record, getting your dick sucked isn't a good cause, either. Looking at a girl's ass is not a good cause. Taking your immediate family members to Russia and Italy and everywhere else is also not a good cause for impeachment. Smoking is not a good cause. This all bullshit. - 2 years ago

Oh, yea- and the other thing is the "Obama is not my president" phrase.
That's another thing these guys seem to just be copying these phrases from the Bush years. Right? "Impeach Bush", right? And "Bush is not my president". That was said because, beecaauusee, BECAUSE? Because why? Remember how Bush didn't actually win in 2000?Remember all that controversy surrounding that election? Voter fraud and all that? How did it all get resolved? He ended up getting APPOINTED, right?
THATS WHY people said "Bush is not my president", because the people didn't vote for him, he lost the election, he rigged the election, and he was appointed in the end, NOT elected, ok?
That, in my opinion, is a legitimate reason for the original phrase. What then, is you reason for saying "Obama is not my president"? Why? Because you don't like him? Well, boo hoo hoo. This guy, at least he won the election!

Right, except that Florida fucked up and couldn't tell a chad from their dick. The election had to then be decided by the Supreme Court. If it was sooooooo wrong why didn't Gore lead the cheated citizens into the streets for four years of massive protests.
Because he understood the Florida problem and understood why it went to the Supreme Court. Of course he didn't like the decision. But the court had more conservatives so he lost.
Had Gore won he would have been President, he did not win.

On one hand, he has the freedom of speech to piss and moan about whatever he wants. He has the freedom to sell those politically charged bumper stickers it he deems it necessary. He has the right to not like who is in charge.
On the other hand, the mall is a privately-owned venue and not exactly the place for controversial political propaganda. They have the right to remove people and products from their building. They have the right to take this man's kiosk.
He can sell his bumper stickers just as easily online, and I'm sure there will be people buying them.
