9 Year-old stays alone after deportation of parents

I contacted one of the local reporters who wrote about this case and asked for an update. Here is what he wrote. (today's date is 3/4/2010)

Thanks for the note.
The parents have served their jail time and were winding their way through the immigration system.
They are still here. He has received permission to work in this country while his case goes to an immigration court.
She has not received permission to work, but has been released while awaiting her day in immigration court.
Katherine is still going to school, as far as I know.
Immigration court is backlogged -- partly as a result of all the cases like this it is dealing with.
so they might be here for several months, or even a few years, before a judge decides whether their cases have merit.

It's sad, but right. I don't believe in people from any country entering this one illegally. And then they (and some other stupid people) act as if they have a right to be here. As for racial profiling, they only have themselves to blame. Even if they are legal citizens, most support those that aren't.

hey....you got me all wrong! I LOVE the Spanish culture. I love to munch down on a taco, listen to la Bamba, and shop the side streets of Tijuania regularly. I often help the young ladies with donations to take to their familys....hell, I could be a saint! I'm just not given enough credit for my personal contribution to the stimulas package I enject into the local Mexican economy. How about a little appreation here instead of so much hate!

I am sorry to say this, I haven't said this about very many people on this site, but ride442 is one of the most offensive posters on this site and particularly this thread. I have a real solution to the illegal immigration problem. We give a green card to all the young really attractive female's. The short fat and ugly ones have to get the hell out along with the men. Have you ever heard of the prison experiment? In this experiment participants are divided into two groups. One is the guards. the other the prisoners. Then after a time in these roles they switch roles and the prisoners become the guards.

In the prison experiment people who would not normally be abusive and inhuman become so in the context of a prison, even though it's just an experiment. They treat the prisoners horribly.

But what happens when the roles are switched? The former prisoners now become even worse abusers to the former guards. Perhaps it's revenge.

Anyway, the point is that the Jews are likely to become worse than Nazis if this experiment holds in real society. Just the fact they play the role of guards makes them likely to be abusive. But given their history as being victims of the Holocaust, this makes them even worse. And we are seeing this happen in Gaza. The Israelis are treating the Palestinians horribly, abusing the innocent, restricting their movements in a Nazi like police state. But that's another article discussion.

In the case of immigrants Americans are the guards and abuse this authority in the inhuman treatment of immigrants. Legal or not, they are human and deserve the respect of fellow human beings. The law does not say we shall divide families and inflict life long torture on people and their families as well. This circumstance requires special treatment. Your numbers be damned to hell.

If the situation were reversed and it was your daughter left behind you can bet your tune would change. You may be guilty of immigration law. But dividing your family for the rest of all your lives is an inhumane torturous punishment far beyond the crime.

What a racist rant 442 is on...what bugs me about these jerks is they act like the economic good fortune that the U.S. enjoys is something that they had something to do with. A national ID card would be an Evangelicals Wet Dream come true. Because it would signal the arrival of the Anti Christ and Armageddon. Get real. We don't need a National ID card to segregate people and monitor their every move. Stop already with the US and THEM duality. @Courage, I have a better solution. Let's microchip them, that way they can't lie about their identity when they commit a crime like so many do to law enforcement. They can't lie about who they are and can't steal the identity of another American like the parents in this article did. What they did was identity theft, they used false social security numbers! As long as they immigrate the hard and legal way, learn to speak English, pay their taxes, and contribute to this economy rather than send all their money back home, then I don't have a single problem with immigration.

Charity begins at HOME, with our own families and our own citizens. If the government wanted to do something constructive they should issue national ID cards. Only people with this ID card could obtain employment, buy products or obtain social services. The only exception to this would be people with work visas or tourist visas. Problem solved. The govenment doesn't want to do this because our congressmen either own or have shares in the companies that employee this cheap labor and it fattens their bottom lines....AND THAT IS THE BOTTOM LINE!

I have the solution every immigrant goes and gets his or her picture taken and fingerprints.Then they get a social security number then they can pay 35% of what they make to the goverment like every one else.
Set up induction sights along the mexican border and just runem through call them legal and tax them.
Either that or anex mexico make it into 3 or 4 states then our southern border will be much smaller and easier to control.

Meanwhile on the border, Border Patrol Agent Robert Rosas was shot and killed while on patrol near Campo, California, at approximately 9:15 pm. He was shot multiple times after exiting his patrol vehicle on the Shockey Truck Trail along the border.
