Undercover Israeli Police: Raw Video

afitzgerald
An Israeli undercover unit was exposed in action while confronting a weekly protest against the controversial West Bank barrier, as shown in this video distributed by Reuters. They cite the source as "Anarchists Against the Fence" though it may be a confusion for a group named "Anarchists Against the Wall".

The video, said to have been shot on July 10 in the West Bank village of Nilin by freelance photographer David Reeb, shows what seem to be plainclothes police officers hitting and then arresting protesters demonstrating against the wall constructed by Israel on the West Bank.

Israel, who maintains that the wall is a necessity for stopping suicide bombings in its territory, calls these demonstrations illegal.

    • A few observations: 1) The security fence appears to be a barrier not much more significant than he seen an average Texas ranch. 2) There appeared to be two plainclothes police arresting and subduing one protester with less force than you see in an average episode of cops. 3) it looks like the tear gas that was fired to subdue the crowd starts to blowback in police's direction causing the distress. There are few times were they were Mark cover their faces did the effects of the teargas. 4) I'm no expert but it sounds like they are yelling each other " are you ready?" Ready for what? To withdraw which they do at the end of the video.

See what you will about the security fence, but suicide bombings in Israel have stopped.

It's fair to assume that there would be no fence if there had been no bombings.

What would the US do in a similar position? Would we build a fence to prevent unauthorized entry? Oh… Wait…

    • I think this whole video is taken out of context. Maybe they should protest a little farther away from the fence. Those Israeli's look to me as if they didn't want to be there in the first place. They were in a hurry to leave.

I have heard Americans say much worse... besides, who said there were not morons in other countries... it is just best not to jump to conclusions because you hear something that is upsetting, the press takes what ever it can out of context to make it upsetting... it is how they get ratings. This is especially true about a governments military policies because most times they are rather well thought out.

    • Oh dear god, and now Highr0ller has brought the conversation down to the cesspool level of politics.

They blew stuff up... they got sanctioned... kind of like what we have done to North Korea (wtf am I saying, exactly like what we have done)... they keep blowing things up and shooting rockets, they cut off the water for a while... logic would say that they would want to have reasonable peace talks... but as we know no one in this world likes logic... So Israelis keeps turning off the water and we keep starving North Korea... and we do not let people send the DPRKs kindergartners crayons either... do not hear anyone screaming about that one.

That sounds even more ridiculous coming from a person with a name originating directly from the Jewish faith... There are bad apples in every faith and they all have exactly one thing in common, they are bad apples... stop stereotyping it is just stupid.

    • We have this thing in America, you might have heard of it, the right to assembly. People have a right to peaceful protest. This is a police state action.

You do have the right to peacefully assemble... in the United States... which is not Israeli, this is true, but the place and time can be restricted. Hence how curfews and no loitering laws work.

Why does everyone in this country seem to think that our system is the best and that all other governments should dictate them selves by what we consider standards anyway... it is just ignorant... and shameful. I mean, because based upon the original ideals of this country they should be free to make their own decisions and not have ours forced upon them... or continually thrown in their faces.

    • MMM, those definitely are not blanks... if demonstrations are banned and you demonstrate and the police arrest you though... who's fault is that? And the guns were not being aimed at the demonstrators, police in the United States fire shots to disperse crowds from time to time too... without shooting at anyone, just like in this video.

This definitely falls under the category of sensationalism or yellow journalism.

    • So this is from the Reuters script itself that came out with the video:

"David Reeb, a photographer and painter who uses the weekly demos as a source of artistic inspiration, told Reuters television he was surprised to witness the undercover operation.

"I saw soldiers approaching in military vehicles, and as I photographed them I realized that just behind me there were two or three soldiers in disguise, Mista'arvim (a Hebrew word meaning soldiers dressed as Arabs) who were jumping on someone and handcuffed him, and beating him. Then they were firing in the air and firing in a general uphill demonstration. They were joined by uniformed soldiers and after a short time they withdrew to the patrol road which is part of the fence," Reeb said in Tel Aviv."

Now none of the audio from the officers is translated. Anyone out there able to translate for us?

    • Uuuummm.

People this is a Military Drill. You can hear the shots to the air being fake shots. When they are talking in the video they are saying things that you say at a military drill.

Who said this video was shot by David Reeb? Did anybody ask him that he shot this video and it is authentic? I dont think so.
