Sexy Senior 70+ Citizens - Grandma and Grandpa are Gettin Down?

Oh Yeah! In fact, in a recent comparative study completed recently in Sweden looking into this very question have found a rather dramatic increase in sexual satisfaction being reported over a two decade span of data collection studies. Female satisfaction rates in those over 70 has risen from 41% in 1976-77 to 68% in 2000-2001 where as Male satisfaction rates went from 58% satisfaction to 71%.

Why has there been such an increase? What will the scientists discover in the latest study to be now getting underway?

Shifting Norms
Researchers have proposed a number of reasons for the rise.

"One reason might be that today 70-year-olds are healthier than they were 30 years ago, but other studies have shown that people who have a good sex life in earlier years usually have a good sex life in old age," said Beckman.

He also points to the change in norms for the different classes of 70-year-olds interviewed.


In a new study, researchers found that today's 70-year-olds are having more sex -- and enjoying more satisfying sex -- than ever before.

Speaking of the most recent interviewees, Beckman said, "They were still young in the '60s, when they introduced uterine pills, contraceptive devices, and they were young when the Second World War ended.

"Since the '60s, the attitudes toward sexuality in society have changed a lot, affecting even those born in the '30s."

He noted that the first group of 70-year-olds interviewed were teenagers during World War I.

Can you imagine what it would have been like to be a teenager during WW1? What did teenagers think like back then? What were their attitudes towards sex? How did they change as they got older?

    • y'know, older people have always had sex. I don't understand how we can somehow make less of a man or woman because of age so much. I thankfully do not expect a new market for the porn industry, or for our "late bloomers" to take up publicly liberating discrimination cases with the same fervor of notorious sexual deviants, but even as most of us "hope" for the best, monogamous sex between older couples is as generally acceptable to them now, as we hope it will be for us...

    • I wonder if the advance of ED drugs and now drugs to enhance female sexual performance are having an effect on the seniors, besides the fact that people are living longer and staying healthier longer, too.

    • My father is 75 and although he is having issues with his back and he has had several accidents with his car, not being able to easily get around because of pain; he is visiting with his girlfriend who is 63. He had prostate cancer and was operated on and lost all his ability to get an erection. Until one day many years later after his divorce, out of the blue, he woke up with a woody. He was so excited he called me on the phone to tell me that he was fully a man again. It was so cute

      Part of me was saying, "oh my god, he still wants to get down? Do the nasty?" While another part of me was saying "Why not? He deserves to have a little happiness, no wonder he wanted me to remodel his bathroom and install a two person jacuzzi tub."

      It made me start to look into this issue and see what was going on. His friends for many years who themselves are in their mid seventies seem like they are enjoying themselves. I remember that my father was asked to share some of his Viagra prescription so his friend could have some to take on vacation. The Viagra pills were left overs from before the divorce. He said they never worked for him and he had never used them, "what a shame to just throw them away...."
