    • With advice for the President like "Bitch slap ’em at every opportunity and put them in their place. They lost; you didn’t," I bet this guy has some real ideas for the country. lol

    • I think he is doing a good job, and I like that he isn't just stomping on the Republicans; he is their president too.

But I still think he should take a stronger stance on certain issues. Why is Laura Ling still in North Korea?

    • I have a qusetion about this idea that Obama is somehow a centrist. It seems very prevalent, at least on this site, the notion that Barack Obama is a centrist, so if that is the case, are you saying that Bill Clinton is a conservative? Does that mean Hillary is right-wing? If Obama is a centrist, then who is on the left-wing? Other than Dennis Kucinich and Bernie Sanders, I can't imagine who you would call left-wing. Who else would you consider left wing? Just curious.

I am proud to know finally we have somebody other than some white old man win. He is smart and seems to be open minded. I will give him a chance.

    • Yeah, I'm sure he would do much better if he became more belligerent and less rational, more accusatory and less conversational, more judgmental and less tolerant, more sarcastic and less sincere, more pompous and less factual, more bigoted and less empirical, more bellicose and less humble. No, wait a minute- then he'd be a neo-con, and Larry Flynt would hate his guts. Heavy sigh.

    • I have been saying the same thing Larry has been saying for months. The republicans and their supporters spit venom all over the place but offer no real solutions to anything. All their energy goes into pure hate. The republican party is the party of greed, hate, ignorance, and selfishness. They put the country into this position and are doing everything they can to stall any action to fix it. The only suggestion republicans offer is to lower taxes, cut programs for handicapped people and students, give more money to the military, and borrow borrow borrow from China. Obama may not be perfect, and he may have spent trillions, but I'll take him any day over the possibility of Sarah Palin being anywhere near government. He better step it up though because the right is up in arms about a black president and all the rednecks across the country are going to be voting to get their Sen/R's into office.

    • I find it incredibly ironic that some of the commentors are saying that he does not balls (guts) or intelligence. This guy broke 250 years of barriers (with a lot of help mind you) and is risking his popularity and his political career on passing legislation because it is the right thing to do. He has a Harvard Law degree and has turned the recession around with his economic policies. The reason I find this so ironic is because the commentors making these claims hide behind their computer and commonly use words like 'retard' to express their opinions based on misinformation.

many economists have concluded this after looking at leading economic indicators related to GDP. They said, however, that this recovery would not look strikingly different from the recession, with unemployment remaining high for a while.

I hope you are right, but they are gaining a lot of momentum. I can't believe how many psycho right wing nuts are cropping up all over the place. A lot of these people never were interested in politics until the shock of a black president caused them to start watching Fox News, now suddenly everyone is a political expert after listening to hannity and etc. Just look at how many neocon nutjobs make their way onto Current!

When will people come to grips with the fact that hardline republican and democratic values are as unreasonable in practice as facism and communism?

the left who call obama a centerist is misleading johnA what they should do is call his administration center right. Obama is a progressive no doubt but he also understands how bitchy the right can get and how much control fox has on its viewers. I say we through both parties out and start a equal rights party

    • I want Obama to go left, to really take this country in the direction it should go.

He should grow some balls, he should tell these obstructionist Republican fucks where they can stick their red-baiting sticks.

It's time for another FDR, it's time for someone to clean up this country after 28 years of the right-wing liquid shitting all over it.

To call a modern conservative hyper-partisan is like calling a brick of semtex a firework.

They hate this man no matter what he does, no compromise would EVER be enough for them because it's not ABOUT ideology for them. They have no goals, they don't CARE about -anything-. They hate him because he's a "liberal," and they'll make up the rest of the facts along the way.

Why be bipartisan to a party that laughs at the notion of bipartisanship? There is no such thing for a Republican. Bipartisan means they win, because they won't accept anything but a total recognition of their goals, welcome to the Pelosi strategy.

So he should say damn the torpedoes and treat them like the lame ducks that they really are.

But he won't, because he's an inoffensive centrist and he thinks that by acting more moderate the right will somehow come to like him over time, that the banshee calls of socialist will somehow go away. Hasn't worked for any other democratic president but, what more can you expect from a centrist democratic party?

Dude, liberals would be bitching just as much, actually fuck that, more if we had hardcore conservative president. Democrats can do WHATEVER they want and still you bitch. Maybe it's because your policies don't all work that you're having trouble. America isn't as liberal as you'd like it to be so maybe you should understand that you can't always get everything you want. They do still have 2010 to worry about.

    • Saladin:

Conservatives don't hate Obama the man, they hate the ideals of the man. Conservatives are called "conservatives" because they follow the constitution to the "T", wih a few obvious exceptions. They believe in a small government whose power is kept in check by the people. However, over the years our government has become very large and even more powerful. Historically we are ripe for a revolution--our economy is bad, we are in fear(terrorists, swine flu, nukes, etc), and there is a general fealing of social unrest. Conservatives are concerned that this possible revolution will be communist in nature, ruining the ideals of the constitution set forth by the fore fathers of this great nation. Therefore, conservatives don't hate Obama, they hate what he stands for: "Socialism".

    • I like it that he's so likeable. I'm not angry that he's not "bitch slapping" his opponents at every turn. He's seen how all that shit plays out, and he sees that it doesn't work. It looks like ignorance and politics as usual, and I, for one, am sick of that same old stuff. He's trying to create peace. And, as far as campaign promises go, I know I'm cynical, but don't they all break those? They shouldn't but they do. He's the lesser evil, in my humble opinion. I know people will always try to find something to criticize but don't say he needs to be shitty and mean just because Republicans are. I'm not his biggest fan, but, damn. This kind of stuff is barbaric and stupid to me.

lol @macfan.....and the most important reason why Oblunder should grow some balls, take responsibilty. how long are you going to blame Bush????
DATELINE July 30, 2055, If it wasn't for Bush.............. grow up, didn't Oblunder know what the economy was before he took over??
i laugh at your responses, BUsh deregulated the banks....really?? how about Dodd and Frank??

"Just a month before, Frank had aggressively thwarted reform efforts by the Bush administration. He told The New York Times on Sept. 11, 2003, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac’s problems were “exaggerated,” a gross miscalculation some five years later with costs estimated to be in the hundreds of billions.
“These two entities – Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac – are not facing any kind of financial crisis,” Frank said to the Times. “The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing."
