Can't see the forest for the trees, much.
News flash. It isn't about you. The USA chose to raid and kill people in foreign lands and brand anyone resisting that 'enemy' : they were branded enemy before the troops left ! Anyone who said that made no sense was instantly a 'traitor'...to Fascists.
But it's all about 'Spreading Democracy'...or WMD ( Cheney is flogging that about Iran and N Korea still )..or the Taliban...the Axis of Evil.
Spin is what it's about : b.s., more, and piled higher and deeper.
Did you catch the part where the prosecutor turned defense lawyer because he couldn't stand the railroading of children ?
There's no money in the budget for healthcare : but killing people globally ? No Problem! - 2 years ago

Why does it matter where they are if they are being jailed. Do you think they're going to break out? They're going to be contained whereever they are. I think again, this is a slap in the face to the taxpayers. They are screwing everything up for future generations. I'm going to take my degree and move out of the country if this keeps up. I'm sure as hell not paying for someones new car that they got for their "clunker".

Why not move them from one island of socialism, Cuba, to another island of socialist, Manhattan? Seems appropriate.

Many of these people are suspected of killing innocent Americans...and Obama wants to bring them to America where they'll be supported by the taxpayers. Brilliant.
Nothing like closing Gitmo without a plan. This is typical of the ready, shoot, aim politics of the Obama admin.

Uhhhh - Our prisons are filled with people WHO ACTUALLY killed innocent people.
As you state "Many of these people are SUSPECTED of killing innocent Americans."
How did you become such a pussy?

Not exactly sure the point of your attack on me...
But I called them suspected killers because I don't know for sure if all the detainees have actually killed Americans. Do you know for sure if they have?
Also, why must our tax dollars be spent to provide the services that a normal prison does...(medical care, cable tv, etc.) Not to mention the fact that the detainees will obviously need special attention and special security to protect them while in prison. Do they have to go to trial first to convict them? More tax dollars being spent. What's the difference if we hold them in Gitmo or in a US prison? Why is this even an issue? Leave them where they are.

Doesn't really matter if they have killed someone or not does it. They are still in the care, custody and control of the US - they are our prisoners.
The objective is to close gitmo.
If you are so concerned about tax dollars and prisons I suspect you support the release of all non-violent offenders. Correct? Also how much do you think it costs to run gitmo? Where does that money come from?
Spending a little bit of tax money to incarcerate suspected terrorist is money well spent.

You made me laugh with your suggestion...because it would work to lessen violence and be more affordable than persecuting innocents with 'Cruel and Unusual Punishment'...in many ways. A quick Search was instructive

That would be a good use of Israel's money.

"The Obama administration is looking at creating a courtroom-within-a-prison complex in the U.S. to house suspected terrorists, combining military and civilian detention facilities at a single maximum-security prison.
Several senior U.S. officials said the administration is eyeing a soon-to-be-shuttered state maximum security prison in Michigan and the 134-year-old military penitentiary at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., as possible locations for a heavily guarded site to hold the 229 suspected al-Qaida, Taliban and foreign fighters now jailed at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp in Cuba.
The officials outlined the plans — the latest effort to comply with President Barack Obama's order to close the prison camp by Jan. 22, 2010, and satisfy congressional and public fears about incarcerating terror suspects on American soil — on condition of anonymity because the options are under review."
