Ok,...government and business lesson needed here. If you work at or invest in alternative energy, than you know that the goal is to make a business that is viable on the open market, and has to stand on its innovation in energy. Basically it has to be a good product and have a strong sales background. these companies,..like tesla, do not want the government regulations that come with the money. All the alternative energy projects that are asking for assistance form the government can not make it in the private market, either because they have no real energy solution, or they have absolutely no business for the material goods they are creating. So, there are a lot of bogus ideas that come before the government, and i can only congratulate them for having the brains to decipher what propositions are going to actually work.

I agree JG, its the same as Tesla losing out on the government grants for alternative energy for the past 2- 3 years when they were going to the big auto manufacturers. Its not whether you do a good job or not, its who you know and how many lobbyists you can pay.

I love fuel cells, almost got a 1 meg natural gas fuel cell to run computers for a tech company. Lots of money but very good.

That's because it's going to "clean" coal that doesn't exist and other so called "renewable" energies that aren't really "renewable" but are now categorized as such in order to get this money and muscle solar, wind and other renewable research out. I am getting very tired of the empty gestures from this administration in trying to pull the wool over our eyes with their cutesy phrases like "clean " coal and allowing greenwashers to get subsidies. Are they truly clueless or are they just like all the rest of the politicians who no matter what they "say" their actions are still status quo with a different wrapping and bow? Where is the AGGRESSIVE investment in solar technology? So much is happening in solar and yet, we are still at a STANDSTILL as far as getting these innovations to market enmasse and making them affordable. What the hell?

I agree that the movement is slow and pitiful but I will give them kudos for getting our automotive industry off their collective asses...
