Did the United States of America give up something? Absolutely! We gave up war. How do you think this will look? The world will start thinking we are peace mongers? What happened to the good ole Bush doctrine? Bomb the millions of innocent civilians first, get the dictator, lie about it, and dodge the questions later.

As usual, The Daily Show nails it when Jon Stewart said "It only took Fox 4 minutes to start dumping on it. Does the sun ever shine during a democratic administration? With Obama in office, now when babies laugh, do you only hear the sound of kittens drowning? Fox was convince despite any evidence confirming that hypothesis that there was a cloud attached to this silver lining"
They couldn't appreciate the fact that 2 reporters had been released, they had to focus on speculations.
As Jon pointed out, if they wanted to know what kind of cost there was associated with the release, they should ask Oliver North who has a show on Fox since he had a lot of experience with it from trading arms for hostages in Iran.

I'm tempted here to echo the "I love fox" sentiment.
I do however feel the need to labour the point - why is this, at this stage, a matter for attack?
At this point in the story, all of the coverage should be revolving around the fact that these two journalists were successfully returned home.
There should, rightly, be an analysis of the diplomatic process involved. Obviously, something was actually given to NK to secure their release in this manner. It might have been a box set of Sesame Street, it might have been the next generation of the F-18. We don't know yet.
The point here, at this stage, isn't that there was a payoff [there obviously and undoubtably was] . Right now, the only relevant piece of information is that the two reporters are safe and secure.
Speaking as one of the relevant people on this issue [I'm on of them dirty furners], I feel safe in saying that this whole story can only be seen as great - a well respected, well regarded American statesman went to a place condemned as devoid of reason and talked his way to getting these girls home.
That is a success. End of. That should be the entirety of the Fox coverage. When they put this sort of antagonistic shit on the air they appear not as patriotic analysts but as vindictive morons.

Hannity is full-on idiot and Dana is the personification of every dumb blonde joke ever told. The clip was misleading as is pretty much everything from Fox News. Which stimulus plan has failed and how is it if the MAJORITY of Americans want health care reform the people have turned against it?
President Clinton did a good thing and I'm sure his presence was an integral part of the deal so the deal couldn't have been DONE before he got there. I'm sure it was a pretty solid chance of success because he wasn't about to go there and fail.
The sad part is some conservatives have to expend so much mental energy trying to find ways to spin success and progress negatively. How much could we accomplish if they'd just shut up. Not even join in or help, just shut up and reap the benefits when all his said and done.

To me this clip looks more comprehensively at the story and that NK was rewarded for illegally taking Laura and Euna.
I'm rather pissed off that they kidnapped them from China and then put them in a hard labor camp - for filming in the direction of their country.
Sean Hannity was only asking questions.
Fox news is treating this as two different actions, one humanitarian - yay they are home safe!!!!!Then the other, what is Kim going to do with the new propaganda? That should even concern you guys.
And why wasn't Hillary's request on behalf of Obama enough to release our girls?
That should also be a big concern. They were kidnapped and put into labor camps unjustly. Yeah I'm glad they are back, hell yeah! But the whole thing should have never happened.

Good lord - what the hell is wrong with these people?
What ever happened to professional solidarity? The coverage should be "look, our fellow journalists are free and safe thanks in part to President Clinton, isn't it wonderful", end of discussion.

Why are so many people opposed to asking questions? Hanity is just a talking head, but the questions he asks are completely legitimate. If a Republican flew to North Korea to do the same, would you not be asking the same questions? I don't believe this is a party issue, just a debate regarding what, if any deal was made in exchange for the release of the two journalists. It's almost a sure bet that Kim Jong Il received something... maybe just some photos with Clinton, but don't you want to know? It's clear that everyone is very thankful for Mr. Clinton returning these two journalists to their families. By the way, did you see how adorable one of their kids is? I'm very saddened by the downright hateful and malicious responses on this thread. Some have even suggested the murdering of Sean Hannity. No, that doesn't seem like progress to me.

Don't you think Hannity was misinforming viewers by not pointing out Obama said he had nothing to do with it? What's the point in raising a question and just leaving it out there when you know you have a response? If someone robbed a bank, I asked you if you did it and you said,"NO" don't you think asking the question, did Spoon rob a bank without even mentioning Spoon said he never robbed the bank is a little unfair? Why not say I don't believe Spoon when he said he did not rob the bank? Shouldn't that be the discussion not just an accusation floating out there? Shouldn't Hannity have reported the facts?

Rewarding North Korea for their bad behavior? WHO CARES!
Regardless of any deals that may have been made or publicity that was earned by Kin Jong Ill the only thing that matters here is that two American citizens were spared an unjust sentence in a unjust place. The fact that Fox is making an argument over this isn't surprising but it's definitely sad and pathetic.

BTW- I don't like Hannity, he is the worst. But they say more than once they are happy with the release, so they didn't complain about the release. Bad headline. They did raise two valid issues, what did Clinton have to give in return and why were they sent there in the first place? It's too bad that Hannity gets the ratings for this.

Hannity's implications that we negotiated with terrorists to accomplish this are unfounded. First of all he has no idea that we exchanged anything for them. It's possible, but its just speculation. Second of all if we did negotiate with North Korea, we were just doing something that has been done for a very long time. Bush negotiated with militias in Iraq to get them to stop shooting at our soldiers. How much money did we give them? You know people who were actually killing us, unlike North Korea.
I pretty much feel the same way most other people here seem to. No matter what Obama, Clinton(s), liberals in general do, they'll will find a way to tarnish it. Very patriotic.

Bill O' Wrongly doesn't report facts and his show is not factual. He often misquotes and misrepresents situations in order to suit his own opinion.
His show is merely opinionated spin doctoring at best; reporting would require him to base his opinion off the whole truth and factual evidence. He has several times been found to fabricate and mislead (or outright lie) about many issues in past telecasts, the most recent being about why Canada's life expectancy is higher than ours (more at link: http://current.com/items/90552368_oreilly-misleads-audience-concerning-life-expe...).

Someone people dont understand real journalism and that is what Vanguard is. Reporters like this annoy me. Laura and the Vanguard team are out in the world reporting on issues the rest of the media ignores because they are too busy in their newsroom to get out into the world and see what's going on. This was more about politics than anything else. Im glad their home and I hope they continue to report because unlike Fox News, they are reporting on some important issues and humanitarian crises that would otherwise go unnoticed.
Send them into North korea? They were not sent into North Korea. The complete story is only something they can tell, but I doubt they knowingly walked across the border.

I know what you mean... and I agree ... but... to be clear, these talking heads are not conservative by any definition of the word. The party uses that word in a way to say to "regular joes" in America that they're just like them. But ACTUAL conservatives do not believe in unconstitutional wars, policing the world, or handouts to HUGE corporations. I feel compelled to say this when I see conservative mentioned because I do not toe any party line and feel that the "conservative" wing of the republicans is nowhere near where my own personal beliefs fall; and I see myself as conservative. But really. When Bush first decided that a bailout to wall street was the answer to the economy's problems these "conservatives" said his hands were tied and that we were doing this because it was an emergency. Now when Obama does it its socialism. I think both presidents were wrong and I hate to see these guys pretending that they actually give a shi about me or you when they're actually only trying to push more propaganda to further the image of, in this case, republicans.

Here is what I learned watching Fox and Friends this morning:
1. Bill Clinton upstaged the president
2. We gave North Korea secret concessions
3. This was planned to divert attention from the Healthcare Bill
4. This incident gives Kim Jong Ill legitimacy and the world sees him as a humanitarian nowIf you only watch the Hannity clip you may think that there is no issue here. Try to stomach a full day of Fox News and you will see that they are not happy about this. They will stop to say that the release of Laura and Euna is nice but there will always be a "but" after that statement.
Fox News wants to see this country fail until another NeoCon is in office.

Al Gore has no responsibility in this! Why must his association with Current in its founding implicate him in North Korea's kidnapping of two reporters.
I don't see how it is so inconceivable that a investigative reporting program send its best journalists into a place that happens to be dangerous. Current Vanguard knew what they were doing in sending them and to question their actions is absurd.
It was purposeful for Bill Clinton to make his trip a personal one, unassociated directly with the State department. If Hillary had accompanied him, it would have been a whole different issue, but this didn't happen.

Not to mention the U.S. economy. Haliburton, General-Dynamics, Lockheed-Martin, KBR, Xe/Blackwater (a private company - no charts on them); these companies depend on war. This pacifist stuff is killing the military industrial economy. Next thing you know we'll have to start investing in solar energy and things to save the planet.
