John Bolton: Israel will attack Iran by end of 2009

If Israel does attack Iran, the US is going to get blamed for it anyway, says former US ambassador to the UN John Bolton. Moreover, the worst outcome would be if an Israeli strike fails to destroy their nuclear program.

Seven years of failed diplomacy regarding Iran’s nuclear ambitions has only put Tehran even further down the road towards nuclear development. John Bolton noted in an interview with RT that the international community is now facing two unappealing scenarios: either to use military force against Iran, or Israel faces the reality of Iran eventually possessing nuclear weapons – both of which are equally unattractive.

    • israel has yet in 60 yrs had to need our support. we have had to beg the world repeatedly to wage our wars israel has always stood alone. and y is this israels fault, israel has been dying to bomb iran but has respected our wishes aswell as europes wishes and has not thus allowing iran to get to the point they are at now(israel bombed syrias nuclear facilities and we arent worried about them now). it is isreal europe and the us that cannot tolerate an iranian nuke its just that israel is the first to be attacked if iran uses them. if anything be gratefull they are the first line of defense and as opposed to you

    • syria has just made an agreement with the soviets to purchase military ordinance that they have been denied, maybe all this iran craziness is a smokescreen for the real threat. a nuclear armed syria allied with iran against the us and isreal?

    • I believe they can, but it is more likely they will preemptively attack Damascus because Syrian forces are more likely to carry out a promise of attacking Israel, than say Iran. There will be nothing that the US can do, since the straining of US relations started with Bush and Condy and with the leftist politics and continuation where Jimmy Carter (welcome back Carter) of Obama will further widen the gap of this relationship.

      The Israelis no longer need the US, which is good on the part of the Israeli's. The Israeli's now have their economy, their military, and their independence to do what they need to do to rid themselves of Islamic Terrorism. President Obama, like former-President Bush, is all talk. Except now, the talk is all pro-Phillistine.

    • Oh, thank god, I was worried that Israel might attack Iran and cause all sorts of problems for everyone (but Hezbollah, Khamenei, and Ahmadinejad). But if Bolton uses his considerable intelligence and insight to predict this, I am not too worried.
