Not Including Undocumented Immigrants on Health Care Reform Could Cost More

Although only about four million of the estimated 44.3 million people of Latino descent in America live in Midwestern states, cultural differences and economic realities associated with those populations have created additional challenges for rural health care delivery systems that are already stretched thin. Experts warn, however, that society will have a high price to pay if access to medical and behavioral health care isn’t provided to immigrants regardless of their resident status.

Don't they pay taxes every time they buy something? don't they leave thousands of dollars unclaimed every year with the federal government?

    • Although Americans benefit from many of the investments in health care, the recent rapid cost growth, coupled with an overall economic slowdown and rising federal deficit, is placing great strains on the systems used to finance health care. According to recent findings, just over half of the $2 trillion of health care costs in the US each year is due to wasteful practices. The health care costs that are indicated to be wasteful are behavioral, clinical, and procedural – what that means is that behavioral patterns could be addressed by someone other than a doctor, clinics order unnecessary tests, and health insurance companies might be padding their bills. The biggest cause of people needing an extra cash advance for medical care is overtesting – unnecessary procedures so the physician can cover himself legally, or just gouge patients for cash. Doctors padding bills – no wonder health care costs drive people to needing a personal loan for a simple check up.

    • Sending their criminal asses back to where they came from would be even cheaper. They are here illegally, hence the term "illegal aliens" and Americans shouldn't pay one dime for them when we don't have enough jobs for ourselves.

      illegal or not, people is just people and i believe health care ought to be universal.
